Training Academy
The Training Academy’s Electrical Equipment Training helps reduce your business
risk and improve the efficiency of your staff and organization. Our electrical
equipment training courses are accredited by the International Association of
Drilling Contractors.
The Mechanical Equipment Training
program offers three levels of courses
to advance rig mechanics to a specialist
level.
Introductory training
The introductory level Rig Electrical
Course (REC) is specifically aimed at the
drilling industry. This course provides
a solid basis for candidates hoping to
become a rig electrician.
The course is written for attendees who
have recently joined or are actively
seeking employment on a drilling rig.
Intermediate training
The intermediate level Rig Electrician
Program (REP) is specifically directed at
drilling industry maintenance staff. It is
the next step for candidates who have

completed the introductory course
and all persons interested in further
specializing as electricians in drilling
departments.
Advanced training
The Advanced Rig Electrician Program
(AREP) forms the third and highest level
of our electrical educational curriculum
and is intended to raise knowledge of
operations and electrical rig equipment to
a specialist level.
Due to the in-depth nature of the course,
it is recommended as the next step for
candidates who have successfully
completed the REP and to all who want
to broaden their knowledge of electrical
equipment on drilling units.
Qualifications
Our electrical equipment training courses
are accredited by the International
Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC).
Upon successful completion, attendees
receive a certificate of completion
accredited by the IADC. This certificate is
valid for five years. Attendees who score
below 70% on the final exam receive a
certificate of attendance.
Educational path
Attendees who have completed the
electrical equipment training and would
like to expand their knowledge are
encouraged to attend other Lloyd’s
Register Energy - Drilling Training
Academy courses and training programs.
