0 Organization background

XXXX volunteer tours, is an organization registered in Kenya in 2019 under Tourist Industry

Licensing Act (Cap 381) and the new Company Act of 2015. The institution is based in Kenya

located in the sub-Saharan region where local culture is being eroded at the expense of

modernization. The local’s way of lives has been for ages been used to protect the environment

and the wildlife. However, the international campaign towards realization of provision of basic

education, good health, and sanitation to the locals has been limited in this region due to poor

infrastructures development and lack of volunteer and government personnel to assist in realizing

the SDG’s goals. This factor informed the organization Director, Henry Odunga Wavyire to

focus on tourism volunteer as a new field within tourism to focus on the five key elements (basic

education, good health, and sanitation).

Henry Wavyire Odunga holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations from United

States International University of Africa, Diploma in Engineering from KIBHT, certificate in

Tourism from Utalii college, and certificate in Spanish and French from Alliance Francaise. He

has been working in the tour field for over 5 years within Kenya guiding tourist in various tourist

sites in Kenya and neighbouring country, like Tanzania. The vast experience in the area enabled

him to identify a niche in empowering the locals who supports protection of wildlife and

environment through volunteer ship in basic education, good health, and sanitation.

2.0 Mission

The organization to link culture, tourism and human development through volunteer travel in

Kenya tourism destination points. We intend to improve the Sustainable Goal in provision of

basic education, affordable health, and sanitation through reducing the poverty levels in the

tourist destination areas (game parks, game reserves, marines and sanctuaries).
We strife to bridge the inequality gap experienced by the locals surrounding or living within the

tourist destination points in Kenya, with the assistance of local and foreign volunteers by

engaging them in various social empowerment areas. Therefore, the future global traveling will

be of importance towards transforming the beneficiary community and we assist in ensuring the

volunteer tourism goal is achieved.

The organization intends to provide a meaning difference in the visited communities by creating

affordable volunteer travel experiences that take into consideration security, accountability and

quality of services offered. This will be achieved through programmes that promotes provision

of basic education (adult education), access to basic affordable health, and access sanitation

services with the assistance of volunteer. The programmes will offer opportunity for the

volunteers to experience and share the cultural values in the areas of operation.

3.0 Objectives

 To ensure provide secure, quality, and accountable international volunteer travel that is

affordable.

 To empower the local community through volunteer programmes towards achieving long

term basic human development facilities (engage in basic education empowerment,

accessible and affordable health care, and clean sanitation)

 To provide inter-cultural engagement experienced during working and living with the

organizations, locals, communities, and families.

4.0 ACTIVITIES

4.1 Project Activities

Childcare
This involves volunteer programmes alongside orphanage personnel to mentor and care play the

children. The tasks involve cooking, tidying and cleaning, dressing, feeding, and teaching at

homes/communities. This position will require volunteer individuals who may need to be

flexible, adaptability, and strong willed.

Teaching

Most opportunities in teaching field range from sciences, languages, art, and music. Therefore,

volunteer tutors should have teaching passion rather than teaching experiences at tertiary

education level which may be conducted under supervision. Most of the schools where the

individuals will be attached may be non-governmental institutions and public schools in

marginalized groups.

Medical and Health Care

The various volunteers in areas are mandated depending on their medical qualification.

Therefore qualified nurses and doctors may be permitted to treat some ailments where the

qualification of those assigned to specific areas may be subjected to scrutiny by relevant

authority (the Ministry of Health). Both qualified and interns will be under supervision during

their volunteership.

Qualifications:

 Be 18 years and older


 Have no major health issues

 Experience may be required for HIV and AIDS counseling program

 The Medical and Health Volunteer Program may require a medical background, unless

you intend to perform general duties like drug packing etc.

 A valid certificate of good conduct from your department of police at home, country prior

to arrival.

 Reference from your immediate supervisor or professional

4.3 Budget and Description

 All programmes attracts a Registration (from US$299) on top of Program Fee

(Refundable partially until 60 days prior to program start date). A 5% international

banking fee is added at point of payment.

 Discounts on language lessons (Swahili and English)

 The volunteer program fee covers in-country orientation, airport pickup, transport to

project (if necessary), training, meals and accommodation during placement, and

supervision. The other costs you will need to meet are your flights, visa, vaccinations,

travel insurance, your departure from the program, and airport departure taxes. You will

also need to bring additional funds to cater for all your other expenses like bottled water,

personal costs, beverages, and entertainment

 Participants Travel to Kenya and Insurance:

 The Volunteer is responsible for his her own international flight costs.

 To Volunteer is advised to seek their own medical insurance cover however with prior

arrangements xxx Safaris may provide an emergency evacuation insurance cover.
