Job Profile:

 To read safety circulars, safety bulletin, technical circulars, driver instruction, caution order,
chalk parts, and divisional circulars.
 To check the loco carefully while starting from yard. And on main line staff changing point,
check the loco within 10 minutes along with assistant loco pilot.
 Read the caution order carefully in which sectional track work progress with temporary speed
restriction is mention.
 Check the repair book of loco about any remark for any locomotive trouble.
 Check the brake power certificate whether it is valid or not.
 Check the oil level (diesel, lube oil, compressor oil in case of diesel locomotive and transformer
oil, GR oil, compressor oil, exhauster oil in case of electric locomotive.
 Check the under truck of locomotive containing traction motor and their cardium compound,
TM safety bolts and all other safety fittings.
 Check brake pipe pressure continuity test with guard.
 Inspected the working of communication channels, hand signalers, safety devices, safety items
and fresh medical safety kits before the departure of rails from their stations.
 To have sharp look out. While on run and observe all permanent & temporary speed
restrictions.
 Working on high speed train, to work for 400 to 450km at a stretch without any halt.
 While on run always ready to notice any abnormalities.

technical problem, signal and telecommunication problem, traffic dept, safety dept, locomotive
maintenance dept, commercial dept.
 To maintain sectional average speed, punctuality, safety, security & productivity as per Indian
railways standards and norms.
 Systematically maintained complete and correct logs regarding rail arrival and departure
distance covered, major and minor halts, fuel refilling and its charges, etc.
 Systematically obey each and every fixed signal and associated hand signal as well as follow the
safety norms and conditions
 Maintained appropriate records in both computational and written form and systematically
submitted them to the higher authorities.
 Safely and securely transport rail passengers to their respective or requested destinations.
 Drive both passenger and cargo trains to destinations.
 Ensure that each stopover is managed in a time-efficient manner.
 Check train engine and equipment at each halt to ensure en route safety.
