Standard Measuring Devices

Directions: Read and understand the following questions. Provide what is being asked
on the given number of item. Cite references of the answers if it needs researching using
APA format.

1. What are the different types of standard measuring devices?


 Weighing Scales- a device use to measure the weight and mass.
 Tripole Beam Balance- it is used to measure small quantities like preservatives,
spices,etc.
 Check Weigher Scale- a digital weigher scale used to get the weight of food
like meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, etc.
 Measuring Spoons- It is a spoon used to measure an amount of a substance, either
liquid or dry, when cooking. Measuring spoons may be made of plastic, metal, etc.
 Measuring cups- It is a kitchen utensil used primarily to measure the volume of
liquid or powder-form cooking ingredients such as water, milk, juice, flour, etc.
 Measuring Cup For Liquid Ingredients- used to measure liquid ingredients
such as water and oil.
 Measuring Cup For Dry Ingredients- used to measure dry ingredients such as
sugar and milk powder.
2. How does standard measuring devices help food processor?
 Usually, standard measuring devices used to measure and weigh the ingredients.
Basically, this device helps the food processor to measure the correct and accurate
amount of the ingredients stated on the recipe. Also, it helps to produce consistently
fabulous and delicious foods every time.
3. Why do we need to know the proper uses of standard measuring devices?
 We need to know the proper uses of the measuring device for us to be aware on how
and where to we are going to use it. Also, to make our work easy, accurate and
systematize then, we don’t need to spend too much time in researching the uses of
each measuring device when we are preparing food. Furthermore, if we already have
the knowledge we can ensure that the food we produce is perfect, effective and
fabulous because we use the proper measuring device.
