 Write a paragraph or two describing there are similarities and differences using transition
words and words that denote similarities and differences
Medusa in the story of The Gorgon's Head and in the Article are quite different. In fact, if
you read the story if The Gorgon's Head, Medusa was described as a girl who has a poisonous
snakes growing out on her head. Perseus, the main character, needs to defeat her and cut off her
head and bring it to Polydectes. On the other hand, Medusa, in the article, was said to be a very
beautiful maiden. She was cursed by Athena, the partner of Zeus whom Medusa captured his
heart that is why she transformed to a snake-haired girl.
Both stories told us that Medusa is the only mortal in the three siblings. Similarly, the phrase
“anyone who gazed at Medusa directly will turn into stone” was included to the two stories. In
addition to that, the two texts, for me, talks about being a leader. Furthermore, While Perseus is
travelling home, holding Medusa’s head, her blood spilled, and it made a venomous plant
 REFLECTIONS AND CONCLUSION
1) What do you notice?
 Answering those questions made me think twice and made sure that the two
stories are similar or different. It is a little bit complicated because the stories are
almost alike except the fact that the article is more detailed about Medusa.
2) What questions arise from you?
 Do they really have differences?
 Is it almost similar?
 What’s the main difference of this two?
3) Was there any conflicting information?
 The questions above made it a little bit complicated. I have searched online to
find information that can support my arguments, but it just broadens the
differences and similarities of the two texts.
4) Was there information provided on one source that wasn’t mentioned in the other?
 Yes, that results of the two texts having differences.
5) Why do you think this happens?
 It is because the two texts talks about the same topic and the questions are merely
all about Medusa.
6) How would you handle conflicting information I you were writing a report on this topic?
 In my opinion, we can handle conflicting information by reading the texts
carefully and understanding it as well as we can. We need to be aware to the
differences and similarities of them so that the information will be grouped
accordingly and the confusion will be lessen.
