UTY 1 TSU CAFA

UPFEED SYSTEM AND DOWNFEED SYSTEM

Ar. Jeremiah Marco A. Bildan

SCENARIO 1: Pressure from water main is adequate to supply the whole waterline system

(Up feed System)

Faucet and Shower Fixtures = 15-20psi minimum

Average Psi of a House Hold = 40-60psi

Testing of Waterline = 80-100psi

SCENARIO 2: Water supply from water main is not sufficient, Needs water tank to store and supply water, in this case an Overhead water tank shall supply the waterline system (Down Feed
System)

Sizing the Water Tank =

Average Person = 3000-5000 liters per month (100-160 Lt per Day)

Say 2 days sufficient supply

1 gallon = 3.78541 Liters

Total Dynamic Height Required?

(Height of Overhead Water Tank?)

0.433 psi = 1 ft. of height

1.42psi = 1 meter
SCENARIO 3: Water supply from water main is not sufficient, Needs water tank to store and supply water, in this case a Cistern tank shall supply the waterline system (Down Feed System)

Home Exercise:

1. How high should your overhead water tank be elevated to supply the minimum 20psi to your highest fixture?
2. How large should be your water tank to store 2 days without water? In Liters, Gallons and in Cubic Meters.
