A count noun is a person, place, thing, animal, or even idea that can be given a numerical
number. For example, an apple is a count noun because you can count how many apples you have.

Other count nouns include bananas, people, buildings, dogs, cats, trees, etc.
Some items seem countable but be careful! For example, dollars, pesos, and coins can be
counted, but the word “money” is a non-count non. We cannot say “I have twenty money.” The key
to identifying a count noun is if you can make it plural.
