electrical and other networking cables and ugly or too high ceiling.

False ceiling is an example of modern construction and architecture in both residential and commercial
applications.
INTRODUCTION
It is a second layer of roof suspended from the main
roof with the help of metal or wooden frame. It is also
known as dropped ceiling. False ceiling has multiple
advantages. It improves the aesthetics of the room.

False ceiling is provided to keep the room cool during

summer and warm in winter.

The false ceiling is hung or fixed in a framework made

of Aluminium or GI sections or wooden batten fixed
with the main ceiling. The false ceiling is fixed at a

GYPSUM FALSE CEILING
Gypsum board false ceiling is made using gypsum plasterboard, fixed with
screw to metal frame connected to soffit.

Gypsum plasterboard come in larger sheets that POP sheets and therefore
there are fewer joints. The joints are finished using jointing compound.

Installing gypsum plasterboard is a faster process that is clean, much

efficient and healthy with very less dust and untidiness as compared to POP
false ceiling.Gypsum plasterboard has more strength as compared to POP.

One of the main reason why gypsum boards are used for false ceiling is
because of its inertness towards water.

Gypsum plasterboard false ceiling offers great flexibility in design. Gypsum

plaster board’s versatility make ii the most preferable product for false
ceiling. Cost wise there is no much difference in POP sheet and Gypsum
plasterboard.

PLASTER OF PARIS FALSE CEILING

Plaster of Paris (POP) is the majorly used material in the

construction of false ceiling. POP is obtained when gypsum is
heated to a certain degree.

It gives the both aesthetic and functional help.Plaster of Paris

false ceiling are attractive, almost no maintenance and has a long
life span.

They are very excellent insulators or heat and cold.These types

of false ceiling don’t only hide the ugly members of structure,
ventilation ducts and conduits but also give smooth finish to the
ceiling.
INSTALLATION DETAILS
Mineral Fiber Board Ceiling Tile

Fiberboard wall and ceiling panels were widely used as an interior wall
covering in both raw form (a brown material) in attics and basements and
more-often in a finished form in the living area where a coating or painted
surface gave a more-finished appearance.

Fiber false ceiling are in high demand for the construction of false ceiling due
to low cost and east installation. The material used to manufacture fiber
ceiling panels are man made by synthetic and natural minerals. As these are
man-made they come in many shapes and sizes.

Cement Fiber Ceilings
Cement Fibre based Designer Ceilings are

Wooden false ceiling is used due to its natural textures and

it non brittle and non-transparent using some

admixtures.

As glass is a good insulator of heat, it can be used for

Factors That Determine the Cost of False Ceilings

1. The design of the false ceiling, and how elaborate and decorative it is;
2. The availability and pricing of the ceiling material in the local market/city;
3. The quality of material used;
4. The total area to be covered (bigger areas tend to have lower per square feet rates as materials can then be
ordered in bulk);
5. Additional costs like electrical work, light fixtures and surface finish.
