The Advantages and Disadvantages of Rizal Law

Rizal Law or Republic Act No. 1425 is focused with rededicating the lives of the
Filipino youth to the ideals of nationalism and freedom for which our heroes fought for. It is
paying tribute to Dr. José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda for devoting his life to
make his works a part of the growth of all the Filipinos around the world. This law also shows
that the Filipino youth should be developed to dedicate service to their country and fellow
countrymen and strengthen nationalism just like what our national hero did.

The advantages of this law in the present time is that the teachings and writings of Dr.
Jose Rizal in his works are making us see its relevance in today’s time. It is very convenient for
all schools to have a copy of his works for it pushes the Filipino youth to apply those lessons in
his works to have a sense of patriotism and nationalism as this serves as being aware to what is
happening in our country nowadays. It serves as a voice to all the Filipino youth. It is a series of
information that serves as a reference from the past.

The disadvantages of this law is that when the old version of those works are restored
just like what it is said in some sections of the law, most of the modern Filipino youth will have
no interest in reading them because they can see it all in the internet for not all of them are
interested to what is the real message of Rizal’s work. There are a lot of references that can be
seen with regards in his works so the original copies that are in the schools are disregarded. And
when his works are interpreted to different languages such as Filipino and English, there will be
a lot of interpretation and the real message will not be understood.

Amidst all of these, it may or it may not have advantages or disadvantages we as

Filipino youth shall honor our heroes for they are the reason why the Philippines is a free country
nowadays despite the fact that we are facing a lot of challenges with the pandemic and the people
who governs us. This law is very important to our country for it honors the way Dr. Jose Rizal
lived and died in order to make us all realize that this country and the citizens that lived and died
here deserves freedom.
