I. In groups of five or six members, bring to class three to four clippings or printouts of
cartoons that show the use of technology today. Discuss the following questions:

1. What ideas about technology do the cartoons present?

These cartoons demonstrate how individuals rely on technology and how it impacts their
interpersonal communication. Technology has infiltrated each person's life to the point that
they have removed themselves from spending time with other individuals who can
communicate the emotions they are experiencing.

2. Do these cartoons present positive or negative ideas about technology?

These cartoons depict highly bad outcomes, in which individuals who are always on their
phones are unaware of what is going on around them. Because of technology, it is also possible
to lose a fearful connection to one another.

II. With your groupmates, do research or conduct interviews that will help you
generate data and information about (1) various forms of communication, and (2)
the advantages and disadvantages of using these forms. The groups may be
organized as follows:

Group 3: Typewritten letters or messages

Report your findings to the class through an oral presentation.

Take down notes from the oral presentation of the other groups. Use the table

III. Imagine that you had just won the top award in a prestigious international contest.
You would like to express your thoughts and feelings about this big event. Share
these thoughts and feelings through one of the following forms of communication
(20 points). Screen shot only to be turned in the google classwork

Option 3: A public Facebook post

IV. Reflect on your own use of social media. In what ways have you made good use of
social media? In what ways have you done harm to yourself or to others through
social media? Share your answers with the class.

I also used social media to accomplish a lot of good things, such as informing and
sharing accurate government news and current events, and supporting others in
attaining their objectives of becoming brand ambassadors/ambassadors by like their
photographs in contests. I also made friends and built bonds with people who lived
far away from me, and I tried to listen to their problems and provide advice on how I
might help them overcome their difficulties.
Despite doing a lot of good on social media, I also had a number of experiences
that led to me injuring myself and others, such as spending more time on social
media than with real-life friends and using social media to replace much of the
offline social contact. Even when you're out with friends, you feel compelled to
participate. Worries that someone else is having more fun than you, as well as
unfavorably comparing oneself to others on social media, motivate people to track
social media. You have a poor body image or low self-esteem. It's possible that
you're suffering from an eating disorder.

V. The selection is about reports about the use of social media by Filipinos. Sharpen
your understanding of the reading text by answering the following questions:
1. How much time is spent on social media sites by Filipinos? Japanese? Brazilians?
American? Argentinians?
According to reports, Filipinos spend 4 hours and 17 minutes on social
media, while Brazilians and Argentinians spend 3 hours and 43 minutes and 3
hours and 32 minutes, respectively. The Americans were in the lowest half of the
study, spending only 2 hours and 6 seconds on average each day, while the
Japanese spent only 40 minutes.

2. What conclusions can you draw from your answer in no. 1?

I can infer that Filipinos are top in terms of social media spending and
browsing, followed by Brazilians and Argentinians, then Americans in the bottom
half, and finally Japanese.

3. How would you compare the Internet speed in the Philippines with that in
Brazil? Argentina? South Korea?
In Asia-Pacific, the Philippines has the slowest internet speed. The
average line broadband speed in the Philippines, Brazil, and Argentina is 4.2
mbps, 5.5 mbps, and 5 mbps, respectively. South Korea has the fastest internet
speed at 26.3 megabits per second.

4. What conclusions can you draw from your answer in no. 3?

We can clearly see that, despite having the slowest internet speed, the
Philippines, like Brazil and Argentina, spends more time accessing the web. South
Korea, on the other hand, has the best internet speed yet spends all of its time on
social media.

5. The author claims that global Internet use is on the rise. What facts does the
author provide to support this claim?
"Around the world internet users grew 10 percent or an additional 354 million
people, while active social media users jumped 21 percent or an additional 402
million”, this backs with the authors' assertion that worldwide internet usage is
increasing.
