PART ONE: INTRODUCTION
DEADLINE 15TH OF OCTOBER

You need to introduce yourself to your partner group. You can do so via an introductory video
or introductory document. You are free to use any format you please, but keep the following
in mind:

• Add a group photo (preferably no individual pictures).

• Add some personal information about each group member concerning hobbies, future
plans, etc. You may not share surnames, home addresses, email addresses or mobile
phone numbers.
• If you upload your introductory video to YouTube, make sure to add ‘Eumind’ to your
video title. Choose the option ‘Unlisted’ when you add your video to YouTube. Do not
select ‘public’ or ‘private’.
• Keep your introduction short and interesting.
• Keep in mind that the Weebly is visible on the internet, so do not share anything you
do not want strangers to see.

Important note for European schools: with regards to the new AVG regulations (GDPR =
General Data Protection regulation), you might need written permission from parents.

PART TWO: THE RESEARCH

DEADLINE 31st OF DECEMBER

RESEARCH METHOD
The central research method for this project is conducting interviews.

NUMBER OF INTERVIEWEES
The number of people your group needs to interview depends on the size of your group. Each
group member has to interview one parent and one grandparent.

DOCUMENTATION
All documents should be visible on Weebly. The international jury will not download separate
Word/PDF/PPT files. It will also not take YouTube videos into consideration that are not
embedded in your Weebly.

3
QUALITY OF THE RESEARCH
The quality of your research improves when you use multiple features of the Weebly website,
such as:
• Scribd (to embed Word/PDF files)
• Gallery (to add PPT slides)
• Pictures
• Features to include YouTube videos
• Columns
To see examples, please visit our Weebly Demo on euminddemo.weebly.com.

PERMISSION
You need to ask your interviewees permission for the following:
• Mentioning their names and ages
• Publishing the outcomes of the research
• Taking pictures of the interview
• Recording the interview

RESEARCH STRUCTURE
Your research should be divided into 3 different parts:
1. Your own view and experiences
2. Interviews
3. Conclusion
A more detailed description of these different sections can be found on the next pages.

4
The main research question of this project is: “How important are
friendships?”

1.YOUR OWN VIEW AND EXPERIENCES

Each group member has to answer the following questions individually:

1. How would you define friendship?

2. How do you make friends?

3. Why do people have friends?

4. Do you think friendship can be a negative thing as well? Why (not)?

5. How do you celebrate your friends’ birthdays?

6. What activities do you do with your friends?

7. What is your favorite book about friendship and why?

8. What is your favorite movie about friendship and why?

9. What is your favorite song about friendship and why?

How to report: give short answers to these questions and add them to your Weebly.

2.INTERVIEWS

Each group member has to interview one parent and one grandparent. Ask them the following
questions (you may add other questions if you like):

1. What does friendship mean to you?

2. Is it important for you to have friends?

3. What did your friendships look like when you were young?

4. What do your friendships look like right now?

5. What activities did you do with your friends when you were young?

6. What activities do you do with your friends now?

5
Answer the following questions yourself:
7. Compare your friendships with the friendships of your (grand)parents right now. Are
they different or similar? In what way?

8. Do you think that having friendships had a different importance for your
(grand)parents when they were your age?

How to report:

• Summarize the answers of the interview in about 200-300 words per interview. You do
not need to transcribe the interviews.

• You can use video recordings of the interview. However, they cannot replace the
summaries. If you use a video recording, do not use all footage but edit the most
important answers until the video has a length of no more than 3 minutes. Subtitling
can be helpful, especially if the sound is not well audible due to background noises.

• Add pictures of the interviewees and your research. Make sure you add at least 6
pictures to your Weebly.

• Describe who you have interviewed (name, age, profession).

• Describe how you have prepared the interview.

- Agreements about the use of pictures and videos.
- The division of tasks during the visit/interview.
- Place, time and duration of the interview.
- How did you thank the interviewee(s)?

3.CONCLUSION

In this section, you will draw a conclusion based on your research. Your conclusion should
contain about 200 words. Try and answer the main research question: “How important are
friendships?"

6

explain why this was not possible. (50 words)

PART FOUR: COMPARISON AND REFLECTION

DEADLINE 30TH OF JANUARY

1. COMPARISON
In this part, you will compare the conclusions of your group (as you have written in part two:
research) with the conclusions of the intercultural peer group. For this step, you must read the
Weebly of the other peer group.

1. What are the similarities and differences?

of your intercultural peers?
