2Procedure for Mounting Mold

The typical mold mounting procedure consists of the following eight steps:
1. Preparation for mounting mold (Refer to "2.3.3".)
2. Mold thickness adjustment (Refer to "2.3.4".)
3. Mounting mold (Refer to "2.3.5".)
4. Adjustment of mold clamping force(Refer to "2.3.6".)
5. Adjustment of mold open/close position(Refer to "2.4.1".)
6. Adjustment of mold open/close speed(Refer to "2.4.2".)
7. Adjustment of ejector (Refer to "2.5".)
8. Nozzle alignment (Refer to "2.6".)

 The procedure below is for general molds. Note that for special molds, the procedure differs slightly.

2.3.3Preparation for Mounting Mold

1. Check that the operation mode is set to [OFF].

2. Load the [Molding Setting] application and select the [Temp] tab.
3. Select the [Barrel Temp.] tab and enter the temperature of each heater zone on the heating
barrel temperature screen.

 Set a lower temperature that allows molding.

4. Check that cooling water is passing through the hopper flange.
5. Check that [Temp. Mode] is set to [Molding] on the Temperature Screen.
6. Press the [Servomotor] button to stop the motor.
7. Confirm that the [Servomotor] button lamp is turned off.

8. Open the safety door.

9. Make sure that the position of the ejector rods match the mold.

Operating the machine with the position of the ejector rods misaligned with the mold may
cause damage to the mold or machine. Make sure to check the position of the ejector rods.

When ejecting products, if the ejector rod force is not even, the mold or machine may be
damaged. Adjust so that the ejector force of the ejector rods is even.

10. Clean the contact areas of both sides of the mold and the platens.

 Check the mold surface for dirt or damage, and repair any damaged portion using tools, such as a
whetstone.

11. Close the safety door.

12. Check that the operation mode is set to [OFF].
13. Measure the mold dimensions. (The applicable points are below.)
 Mold thickness (If there is a gap caused by the spring, subtract the length of the gap.)
 Locating ring diameter
 Thickness of mold mounting plates (on movable and stationary sides)
 Spherical radii and hole diameters of the sprue bushing of mold and the nozzle

 If the thickness differs between the movable and stationary sides of the mold mounting plate, measure
both of them.
14. Prepare mold clamps. For the sizes of the mold mounting bolts, refer to table 2-1.

 The embedded length of bolts should be 1.5 to 2 times of the bolt diameter.
15. Check that there are no abnormalities in the mold lifting wire and other parts.
