After reading on Global Governance, answer the following questions. Each
question is worth 5 points.
1.Why is global governance multi-faceted?
-It is multi-faceted because there are many aspects that is needed to
considered in different countries. Like between and among cultures, states, intergovernmental organizations, and nongovernmental organizations, those needed to deal with its norms and rules to settle everything in order. As there are many issues rising globally, the international government need to work with it equally in terms of economy, territory issues, health and etc. It is multi-faceted as it is not focusing in one country government, instead it is into consideration of many that makes the world affairs systematic, secured and formulaic.
2. How do international organizations take on "lives of their
own"?
- International organizations take on lives on their own as they have their
independency in actions, policies, function and purpose. Those are looking into the bigger picture and not making a decision for the sake of few countries. They have their own powers that managing the member-states countries for a certain purpose. Like for environment, safety, health and etc. that is beneficial to everyone. As mention, they have the power to diffuse norms, fix meanings and create powerful global standards which is for the cost of all not just for the interest of the states itself.
3. What are the challenges faced by the United Nations in
maintaining global security?
-United Nations main task is to maintain international peace and security
and make a friendly relationship between the countries but still there are few conflicts. One of it is when one of the P5 leaders wanted to veto a certain resolution it leads them to become powerless to stop a war. Especially when the country involve in the war is on five permanent members of the Security Council which they usually having deadlock veto. They are lacking of meaningful progress as talks between the countries are difficult to take place their platforms. Most of their resolutions just became dead letters which making them a hard time of maintaining the global security of the countries. The contrasting moral structures of social behavior in different member-states complicate the formulation of a normative standard that can be applicable to all.
