ABSTRACT
The subject of this paper is to analyze the major character in the movie based on
characterization dan character development of major character. The object of this
research is “Maleficent” movie, an American Film directed by Robert Stromberg,
released in 2014. Maleficent experiences the change from good fairy (Protagonist)
becomes bad fairy (Antagonist). The change was due to a sense of disillusionment
and revenge for the betrayal of her lover, a man named Stefan. The research
method in this study is descriptive qualitative method. The data needed were the
dialouges and scenes that showed or indicated the character development
experienced by Malecifent. The writer applies theory of. (a) Character
development from Maleficent. (b) The theory of character development element
from maleficent. (c) The theory character development causes and effect from
Maleficent. (d) The last about Moral values from Maleficent movie. As the result
of the analysis, the writer finds out that: (1) Character development of maleficent,
Protagonist becomes Antagonist and Antagonist becomes Protagonist. (2) The
element causes who support the character development of Maleficent. (3) The
causes and effects of character development can be either positive and negative,
which are indicated by the major character’s subjective experience, subjective
belief, and also objective truth along the story. (4) primary moral message implied
in the movie are about the improvement to a better person, about willingness to
forgive, and also about the need to compromise in certain conditions.

ABSTRAK
Subyek dari penulisan ini adalah untuk menganalisis karakter utama dalam film
berdasarkan karakterisasi dan pengembangan karakter karakter utama. Objek
penelitian ini adalah film "Maleficent", sebuah Film Amerika yang disutradarai
oleh Robert Stromberg, dirilis pada tahun 2014. Pengalaman buruk, perubahan dari
peri baik (protagonis) menjadi peri buruk (antagonis). Perubahan itu karena rasa
kecewa dan balas dendam atas pengkhianatan kekasihnya, seorang pria bernama
Stefan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode
deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang dibutuhkan adalah dialouges dan scene yang
menunjukkan atau mengindikasikan perkembangan karakter yang dialami
Malecifent. Penulis menggunakan teori. (a)Pengembangan karakter dari malfungsi.
(b) Teori elemen pengembangan karakter dari Maleficent. (c)Pengembangan
karakter teori penyebab dan akibat dari Maleficent. (d)Yang terakhir tentang nilai
Moral dari film Maleficent. Sebagai hasil dari analisis tersebut, penulis mengetahui
bahwa: (1)Pengembangan karakter utama, Protagonis menjadi Antagonis dan
Antagonis menjadi Protagonis.(2)Elemen yang mendukung pengembangan
karakter Maleficent.(3)Penyebab dan akibat pengembangan karakter dapat berupa
positif dan negatif, yang ditunjukkan oleh pengalaman subyektif karakter utama,
keyakinan subyektif, dan juga kebenaran obyektif sepanjang cerita. (4) pesan moral
utama yang tersirat dalam film adalah tentang peningkatan pada orang yang lebih
baik, tentang kemauan untuk memaafkan, dan juga tentang kebutuhan untuk
berkompromi dalam kondisi tertentu
