researcher in completing the thesis research entitled "The Effect of Using Exit

Ticket and Tlaking Stick Startegy on Students Reading Comprehension skill at

SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan Pematang Siantar", can be completed in order to

Education Study Programme, HKBP Nommensen University Medan.

There were many obstacles and barriers that the researcher felt during

This study was motivated by the curiosity of researchers who wanted to


see the difference in the effectiveness of the use of Exit Ticket and Talking Stik
strategies in students' comprehension skills.
The objectives to be achieved in this study include: (1) To know and find
the effect of using Exit Ticket Strategy in students' reading comprehension, (2) To
know and find the effect of using Talking Stick Strategy in students' reading
comprehension and (3) To know which strategy gives significant effect in
students' reading comprehension. This research is a quantitative research using
Approach especially in Quasi-Experimental design.
This study was conducted in class 8 consisting of 3 classes with a total
population of 90 people and 45 students as samples taken from each class. Data
collection was done through 2 stages, namely the implementation of pre tests and
post tests in the three classes. The results showed effectiveness through an
increase in student reading scores and also the average scores obtained in each
class. By using Exit Ticket and Talking Stik strategy gives a positive effect.
However, the most dominant in providing a significant effect in students' reading
comprehension is the Exit Ticket Strategy indicated by the greater average value
obtained. From the data, it is recommended to the teachers to use Exit Ticket and
Talking Stick Strategy in teaching students' reading comprehension.
