ACTIVITY 1: HYpoTHesIs TesTIng

Dependent Variable: Level of Financial Literacy

Independent Variable: Job Status (Regular and Contractual)

1. State the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis.

Ho: There is no significant difference in the financial literacy among the faculty members of
College of ABC University particular to the job status and course.

Ha: There is a significant difference in the financial literacy among the faculty members of
College of ABC University particular to the job status and course.

Hb: There is no significant difference

2. Choose the Level of significance: 0.05

3. Statistical Tool: T-test for Independent Samples
4. Compute the value of test statistic from the sample data

Table 1. Table below shows the result of Independent T-test of Job Status.

5. Make Decision

Since the Sig(2-tailed) > 0.05

0.118 > 0.05; Not Significant

Therefore, the mean of two groups being compared does not vary significantly to be the same.

Since Sig = 0.230 (Levene’s Test for Equality of Variances) we use the value of Sig (2-tailed) in the
Equal variances assumed which is equal to 0.118

Table 2. Table below shows the result of Independent T-test of Course

Dependent Variable: Level of Financial Literacy

Independent Variable: Course (Business and Non-Business)

1. State the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis.

Ho: There is no difference in the level of financial literacy among the faculty members of College
of Business and Commerce of ABC University.
Ha: There is a difference in the level of financial literacy among the faculty members of College
of Business and Commerce of ABC University.
Hb: There is no significant difference

2. Choose the Level of significance: 0.05

3. Statistical Tool: T-test for Independent Samples

data

5. Make Decision
Since the Sig(2-tailed) > 0.05

Therefore, the mean of two groups being compared does not vary significantly to be the same.

Since Sig = 0.378 (Levene’s Test for Equality of Variances) we use the value of Sig (2-tailed) in the
Equal variances assumed which is equal to 0.875.
