Characteristics: The characteristics they both have is that they all have designs and
sculpture outside their forms.

Functions: These two examples above have their similar function which is to put the
body inside the tomb and the jar. Unfortunately, the Manungul Jar, which is originated
in the Philippines, particularly in Palawan does not do any kind of mummification.
While the tomb which is commonly seen in Egypt does do mummification, they remove
all the organs, except the lungs and they cover it using bandages.

Try to relate some famous artworks of the early age to some Philippine artworks and reflect
how they have in common or how they can be associated with each other.

Characteristics: Both structures have similar characteristics which is they are both
naked.

Functions: These two forms represent their possession and rights. For instance, the
left picture represents and symbolizes feminine and mother goddess symbol, while the
right picture guards their possession and manifest indigenous people, specifically
Igorot’s.

Pampanga’s
Capiz lantern

Characteristics: The characteristic of these two is that they have colorful artworks and
have a meaning on it. For instance, the biblical glass portrays to religious thing, while
the lantern in Pampanga manifests its meaning when it is being manipulated by a
person or people.

Functions: They both represent their culture and tradition. The left picture portrays to
religion which is their own belief while the right picture shows their tradition in the
Philippines that happens annually.

Characteristics: They both have clock tower in the middle. They are elevated and built
archaically since both of these churches were built for a very long time.

Functions: They show that those two artworks were from Gothic Architectural.
