Learning Task 1: Bayanihan

One of the Filipino customs is bayanihan. It is a Filipino method of showing ready cooperation with
others for the greater benefit. Our eagerness to assist our fellow countrymen in times of need is a
quality that runs through our veins as Filipinos. Bayanihan, as it is currently called, arose from the
process of relocating a bahay-kubo nayon's to another site with the assistance of his neighbors. It is an
important aspect of Filipino culture. However, culture is ever-changing. Culture evolves and adapts
throughout time. One of these cultural shifts is the result of contemporary technology such as
computers and the internet.

The image depicted captures the spirit of what bayanihan looked like in its early days. It reminds us that
the Bayanihan spirit is still alive; there are still individuals in rural regions who relocate their homes, and
people still aid. Furthermore, the bayanihan spirit remains alive and well among Filipinos today,
manifesting itself in a variety of ways, such as when natural calamities or disasters hit. Filipinos will go to
great lengths to assist their 'kababayans' in need. The Bayanihan spirit is one of many lovely things that
Filipinos may be proud of.And also the image has the appropriate combination of color, location, and
quantity of pieces to give the viewer a sense of what an actual act of bayanihan looks like. I like how the
artist even included a dog in the artwork. It practically gives us an exact picture of how it could have
looked in the beginning. I really appreciate how the artist of this art work used picture to express and
reminds us the essence of what bayanihan is.
