1 Corinthians 6:19-20,

NIV: "19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit,
who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at
a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

- The moment you received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior, pumasok na
ang Holy Spirit sayo. According to Acts 2:38, NLT: "Peter replied, 'Each of you must
repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
- God’s spirit actually makes its dwelling in you. Apostle Paul tells us that our bodies ARE
THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT;
- HISTORY:
o Apostle Paul was talking about the sexual immorality of the Christians of Corinth.
Paul was reminding the Christians in Corinth that yung body nila is the Holy
Temple, dwelling ng Holy Spirit. Just like a church, people make sure na pag
every service kay malinis and arranged in every corner, ganun din yung bodies
natin.
- May deeper meaning sa verse 20 na gustong sabihin ni Paul – it’s that want to mess up
the temple with hidden sins.
yun destroys the whole image of the church, even if malinis sa labas.

- We don’t want na babuyin/sirain ang ating katawan, as Holy Temple, with hidden sins
just like sexual immorality, drugs, sobra sobrang alak, sigarilyo, o kahit na sobrang
pagkain. Just like how we wanted our house clean kasi dun tayo nakatira, we also want
to make this living temple to look nice by taking care of if through cleaning, or clothing it
modestly. Making it presentable and pwedeng tirahan.

kanila. Kailangan kasi sa isang pulis na physically fit, groomed, and nakadress properly.
Ultimo kuko nila tinitingnan daw, pati nga ATM eh. It is because, Pulis sila, expected sila
to become physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy para makaresponde agad sa
threats ng kaaway. Just like those policemen, we have our own battles – nasa spiritual
realm nga lang. And for us to prepare sa battle nay un, we have to be HEALTHY all over

hindi na sila effective as frontliners kung may barilan or what. Why? Because napasobra
sa kain. Di naalagan ang katawan. Tayo as Christians, if hahayaan natin ang mga secret
and deadly sins na sirain ang templo ng Holy Spirit – we will not be as effective in the
battles na we may face everyday.

- This is why Paul is reminding us that our body is a HOLY TEMPLE. Dito nakatira si
HOLY SPIRIT, the gift the moment that we received Jesus Christ. This is our main
defense against any battles we may face. And if sisirain natin to, we may also lose our
personal battles.
And because nakatira ang Holy Spirit in us, we must be reminded of three (3) things:
1. Accountability
o Diba sa logistics, pag binigyan kayo ng assets ng office, we make you sign
accountability forms para if masira man yan or mawala, wala kaming ibang
pupuntahan kundi kayo
o Same with our body. This is a gift from God. We are accountable to this and
nobody else.
Diba may famous line “my body my
choice”? Yes, it is our body and choice natin lahat ng pwedeng mangyari ditto.
We are free to do our will but we are not free to choose the consequences. So
kung inalagaan mo ang sarili mo, good job! Pero if hindi, wala ka dapat ibang
sisihin but yourself. Again, accountability.
2. Care
o Kabilang sa accountability is our responsibility to take care of the items/gifts
given to us.
you are expected to take care of it as good stewards. Remember, lahat ng mga
naeenjoy natin are not coming from your or own money pero pera ng mga
donors.
o Laging sabi ni Sir Vince, if you are a donor and nakita mo kung paano nagagamit
ang perang dinonate mo by samaritan’s purse, will you be happy?
o Same with our temple, we are BROUGHT by a special price – that is JESUS
CHRIST. Nagpakamatay si Hesus para maredeem tayo. And if Jesus is looking
at you right now, the one who HE paid His own life, sa tingin mo ba magiging
masaya sya? Are you taking care of your body as much as Jesus wants to?
Assess yourself.
3. Use for the purpose of it
o Tayo, pag bumibili ng gamit – we make sure na magamit natin to for its purpose.
Di man siguro tayo tanga no na magbili tayo ng laptop tas tadtaran lang natin ng
sibuyas? That’s not what laptops are made of.
o Or nagbili ng sapatos para idisplay? Diba ang sapatos, made yan for walking?
Pero gitambay lang sa cabinet.
o Tayo rin, we were brought by the blood of Christ for a purpose. We were made
for worship, to glorify His name! And if we are not doing that right now, then
assess yourself, are we living out our purpose? Because if we are not living for
our purpose, para lang tayong nagging wasteful. Walang silbi. Para tayong
matter but we don’t matter. We occupies space and has a mass pero wala
tayong silbi.
o 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be
made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out
and trampled underfoot (if you are not being salty, wala ka ng ibang silbi but to
be thrown away or itapon).
