EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

09 July 2020

(U) “How well was the performance in three of the warfighting functions."

(U) The warfighting functions that I felt that were well performed in this case study was

intelligence, sustainment, and movement and maneuver. The information that was initially given

by the Department Support of Civil Authorities pertaining to the hazmat explosion was enough

m
er as
information to provide to the 22nd Engineer Clearance Company to know what they were dealing

co
eH w
with and what they had to do in order to set up. This information from the intel perspective made

o.
rs e
it easy for them to be able to know how many people were going to be needed to assist. Along
ou urc
with what type of equipment and PACE plan that was going to be needed to accomplish the
o

mission of going in and rescuing American civilians. Emergency planning comes down to
aC s

making sure that sustainment assets are readily available for the personnel on ground. This
vi y re

includes the Soldiers and civilians that support the DSCA. The movement and maneuvers of how
ed d

to get things on ground and in the air, moving is coordinated through the ground units in support
ar stu

of the DSCA. The DSCA with all the other agencies which include homeland security, national

guard, US Military, DOD civilians, and DOD contract personnel. Even though throughout the
is

process there is involvement from most of the warfighting functions the ones that were stated are
Th

the ones that stood out most. When a natural disaster happens there are already things and plans
sh

in place when it comes to how thigs are going to be executed however, when things happen that

we aren’t too prepared for then that throws a different problem into the plan. In this case I feel

that everything was still well executed because of the personnel that were on site and the DSCA

had everyone alerted in a timely matter as too what was going on and what assets were needed to

make the operation run as smooth as it could get. This case study was prime example as to how

all the agencies within DSCA work together.
