Globalisation: benefits and drawbacks

My topic presentation explains the concept of globalisation, focusing on the advantages

and drawbacks in our actual world. We can define globalisation as a process of
convergence between different economies, cultures and ways of thinking around the
world in a single and unique way. Like other global processes, there are lights and
shadows, which will be analysed in this present work.
First, I will present some benefits that globalisation produces in our daily life. From my
point of view, the improvement of global communication is a key aspect, because
nowadays all our economy is based in a global market. That's not be possible without the
internet. It provides support to an uncountable list of social networks and websites which
help to communicate with familiar and friends around the world. Apps like Clips, Zoom
or Skype bring us support in the recent pandemic to continue working, but in our houses.
On the other hand, the free circulation of goods and products is a key concept, closely to
the previous ideas. Who has not used a product made in China in his daily life? One of
the consequences of globalisation is the development of a new global market around the
World. The cheaper prices of shippings, which are more and more quickly, make that we
can enjoy in our daily life of products from thousands kilometres. A typical example is
the banana, which grows in tropical places and is enjoyed around the World.
Nevertheless, there are several problems which must be pointed out. It is for all well know
that many industries and companies move their factories to undeveloped countries. The
reasons are pay less taxes, workers with low salary and less laboral rights. In the origin
countries, these practices produce high rates of unemployed people who have several
problems working as an uncualificated worker.
In addition, several countries are losing their own cultural identity. In the Asiatic region,
some countries like China, Japan or Vietnam are losing their identity against the standard
western culture. This process is especially notorious in new buildings in cities like Hong
Kong or Shanghai. In Nordic countries, the local languages are losing speakers against
the English speakers, who find this foreign language. If we study the situation of the arts
and crafts, we will discover a worrying situation. The traditional styles and art are
disappearing. New artist only create works which are like other works in the western
market.
To conclude, it is clear that globalisation improves our life, especially to keep in touch
with our families and friends or to enjoy different products around the world. In contrast,
there are few problems that could be considered, especially the leakage of companies and
enterprises to the undeveloped countries. In my opinion, governments should regulate the
taxes and the head offices of the national enterprises in order to pay the right taxes and
generate benefits in the origin country.
