Adaptive e-learning environment based on learning styles and its impact on

development students' engagement

According to El-Sabagh, H.A. The use of adaptive e-learning is regarded as a kind of

stimulation to aid in learning and increase student engagement; thus, creating suitable
adaptive e-learning settings helps to customize teaching and reinforce learning
outcomes. Students' learning styles are taken into consideration while designing an
adaptable e-learning environment. This article aims to investigate the effect of the
adaptive e-learning environment on students' involvement. The article is based on a
combination of research techniques used to investigate the effect in the following
ways: The adaptive e-learning environment is designed using the development
technique. The research experiment is carried out using a quasi-experimental research
design, which is described below. This scale is used to assess the following affective
and behavioral aspects of engagement: students' skills, participation/interaction,
performance, and emotional well-being.

As Chen et al, (2010); & Lee et al, (2019), point out, e-learning generates positive
learning results because it enables students to actively engage in learning at any time
and from any location. Adaptive e-learning has recently gained popularity as a
method of instruction that higher education institutions are extensively adopting. An
emerging research field, adaptive e-learning environment (ALE), is concerned with
developing approaches to meet the needs of students with a variety of learning styles
by adapting the learning environment within the learning management system (LMS)
to change the concept of delivering e-content to students. In adaptive e-learning, the
material is taught or modified depending on the students' learning styles or
preferences, which is a learning process. Adaptive e-learning dynamically adjusts the
level of teaching depending on the students' learning styles and personalizes training
to improve or accelerate the students' achievement. Making instructional decisions
based on a student's abilities and material requirements may reduce course dropout
rates while simultaneously improving student results and the speed with which they
are achieved. Every student may participate in the learning process when using a
personalized learning strategy that is effective, tailored, and efficient, which is
emphasized in this study.

Results showed that adaptive e-learning based on learning styles might assist students
in maintaining their interest in the subject matter. Thus, adaptive e-learning that is
based on learning styles has been shown to enhance student engagement substantially.
Individual learning styles are discovered through study, and students prefer to utilize
various educational materials and activities to best suit their individual needs.
Furthermore, the effectiveness of learning is influenced by the preferences of the
students involved. Because of this, the most effective learning environment should
tailor its output to the specific requirements of the pupils. The creation of high-quality
instructional materials and activities tailored to students' learning styles will
encourage them to engage and be more motivated in the classroom. After everything
is said and done, learning styles are an excellent beginning point for developing
instructional materials based on learning theories. In conclusion, results revealed that
the differences between the experimental and control groups were statistically
significant in terms of their statistical significance. The proposed adaptive e-learning
approach and results may help e-learning institutions design and implement more
customized and adaptable e-learning environments to improve student engagement
and learning outcomes.
