REPORT ON VIRTUAL RESEARCH PRIMER

NARRATIVE REPORT

The subject Criminological Research and Statistics 1 launched a Virtual Research Primer on
May 27, 2021. We were advised to watch it together our guardians in order to introduce to them
the different information, guidelines, agreement and advices that will help us students for our
research journey. In my case I watched it with my mother and I was able to let her sign the
Memorandum of Understanding about the research we are going to create. The virtual research
primer was first started with a prayer, followed by singing the national anthem, then followed by
the Urdaneta City hymn and then followed by singing the Urdaneta City University hymn. After
that, the mission, vision, goals, objectives and core values of UCU was presented. Words of
welcome was given first by our Deputy Program Head of CCJE, which is Mr. Oswaldo P.
Lapena. He gave a short welcome remarks to the students together with their guardians. He also
gave short explanation about the importance of research in life especially to us Criminology
students. After that words of welcome, a words of wisdom was given by our College Dean, Dean
Joseph D. Miranda. He motivated us to finish our research paper whatever challenges we may
face. He said that he is extending his unending support to each of us researchers in the college.
He also tackled about the retention policy. After that very inspiring message, Sir. Romeo M.
Capudoy, the program Head of CCJE, discussed the content of MOU or the Memorandum of
Understanding. According to sir Capudoy, Memorandum of Understanding will served as a
personal covenant between the College of Criminal Justice Education and as well as the parents.
MOU will also the basis of the responsibilities of the parents and the college. After explaining
the content of the Memorandum of Agreement, Sir Rio R. Bacani, the Research Coordinator
deliver the General Guidelines in the conduct of research. He tackled about the different process
that students should undergo in order to finish the research in its designated time. He also
mention about the plagiarism and grammar ratings that the researchers should be followed. Sir
Bacani also mention in his discussion about the different fee’s that the student should pay for the
continuous improvement of their research paper. Sir Bacani also motivated us not to be tired
because he know we can do it. And before the virtual meet ends questions were also entertained.
