SELF REFLECTION

My name is Aiman Polo, I grew up as an only child. I am 17 years old. My parents are always
busy when I was quite little, so I live with my grandparents. Accustomed to living with older
adults, I always act more mature than my age. I am in (mention your class and the name of your
school). I have had a lot of people invest in me academically, so I have excelled in most of my
classes. My hobbies include music, reading and traveling. Although I don’t get to travel much, I
relish every moment I get to. I am generally pleased with my life. It is a common knowledge that
I am a good student and I love to study a lot. My favorite subjects are mathematics, chemistry
and biology. I’m what a lot of people call a geek. I have every intention of applying to a
reputable university and obtaining a degree in one of these fields. I am responsible and
hardworking, so I study hard to obtain good grades.

Whenever I achieve something which I doubted that I wouldn’t be able to do , I feel good and
that sense of achievement brings immense joy, however small / simple that task might appear to
others.So, to me, joy is nothing but satisfaction arising out of achievement.

I am most proud of overcoming the adversity which I faced in my young life. Coming from a poor
family, we always struggled with money, and my parents had daily conflicts and fights. It was
not easy to get over my childhood traumas, and find courage to pursue some dreams. But I
found the courage, studied hard and had a job at the same time to pay for my studies. It was not
as an easy period of life, but here I am, applying for a great job with you. I am proud of being
able to even get to this point.
I have placed God, my family and education before anything and everything else. As I bow my
head and pray I feel reassured and calm knowing that there is someone above mindful of me, a
sense of peace knowing that all the tribulations that I have faced I have never faced alone. For
that reason and for many more is why I have placed God number one on my list.
My purpose in life is to be happy and successful. I want to wake up every day with a positive
outlook on life and a positive mindset. My purpose is to help change the way people view life,
not mentally but visually. When it comes to my education, I want to graduate college with a
doctorates degree in biomedical science. With this degree I wish to pursue my dream of
becoming an Optometrist. My personal long term goal is to live life sufficiently.
One of the things I want in life is to be successful. Three reasons why are, first I can help and
provide my family and give them what they need. Secondly, is I can have a better life, I can get
what I want and need. The last reason is so that in the future I can have a nice big house and
give my kids or family and nice good shelter. I’m gonna try being successful from now and on.
