 SPORTING TO RECREATE
o Engaging in sport is one of the ways to recreate. Taking part of
recreational sports can help you meet like-minded people and develop
a favourable rapport. People who share common interest make a
joyful group that helps each other to promote themselves.
Recreational sports help you build self-esteem and confidence. It helps
you enhance the quality of life by building a positive self-image.

2. Differentiate active recreation to passive recreation? (5 pts)


 Active recreation is an activity that requires a considerable expenditure of
energy while Passive recreation involves little exertion, but generally
sustained. The difference between the two is that active activity involves
using a lot of energy and makes you move around a lot active while passive
activity is more of a leisure or relaxation activity as you are more calm and
you don’t have to move as much.

“I’VE NEVER”

Group Size: works best with 10 or more but can do with less.
Equipment: You need chairs for everyone, except for one person.

I’ve never is an ice breaker game that helps people get to know each other
better. Everyone sits in a circle and turns telling the others about some kind of
experience they never have done.

Playing this game is such an enjoyable one it helps us know each other’s
experiences.

“GROUP JUGGLING”

Equipment: 2-3 soft balls, or more if desired

Group Juggling is a great, high-energy active mixer activity that helps participants
learn the names of the other people in the group. This game also serve as a team
building activity if people do not know each other well.

“THIS IS MY CHIN”

Type: Mixer
Group Size: 10+ people, larger groups can be split into multiple groups.
Equipment: All one needs to play this game is a group of people.

This is my chin game is such a nice mixer game. This game improves hand-eye coordination, spatial
awareness, strategic thinking and concentration.

helps develop gross motor skills, rapidity and cohesion of movements.

Feet ball game requires teamwork. Good thing about this game because it builds

Type: Very Active game


Group Size: 10-12 people
Equipment: No equipment. Just make boundaries. Use about the size of half a volleyball
court for this amount of people for your boundaries.

1. They differ in Strategy being used.

In competitive game, players are convinced to adopt a particular strategy through


negotiations and agreements between players.

However, non-competitive game, players decide on their own strategy to maximize their
profit.

2. They differ in Goals

In competitive game, players’ focus is on winning the game.

However, non-competitive game, players focus more on enjoyment, fitness and improving
health rather than establishing superiority over another team.
