SUBJECT MATTER
Topics: Lesson 1: We Think Critically
Reference: Christian Living for Everyday Life 6 by: Esteban, Alfredo et.al. (pp. 4-8)
Materials: Computer, Power Point Presentation, Text Book, Videos

PROCEDURE
Day 1- August 3
Engage/Explore: (Verbal-Linguistic, Visual-Spatial, Intrapersonal, Existentialist)
 The students will answer a crossword puzzle regarding the story of King Solomon and
how did he solve a difficult case (page 5).
 Ask the students: “What is Critical Thinking”. And let the students share their own
insights and opinion about the question

Discussion: (Verbal-Linguistic, Intrapersonal, Interpersonal)

 Discuss critical thinking and its importance to decision making.
 Let the students know that we need to be careful with all the decisions we are about to do.
We should have wisdom before we do it.
 Explain the consequences if we don’t think according to wisdom and critically.
 Read and Understand the story “King Solomon and his Judgement” (p.6-8)
 Ask the students: What did Solomon asked God to give him?
What did God responded to what Solomon’s wished?
How did Solomon used or impart the gift that God gave him?

Extend/Elaborate: (Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, Existentialist)

 We should always be careful with our decisions and think critically before doing it.
 Thinking critically before making any decisions and thinking about will help to have a
better outcome or result.
 Make a right judgement, choice, and decision.
 Before pursuing any decisions: Is this the right thing to do?
Will it be helpful to others and me?

Generalization: (Verbal-Linguistic, Intrapersonal, Interpersonal)

 We must remember that in every decision that we make we should be very careful and
think critically before we come up to any decision or plan. Like the story of king
Solomon in finding out who is the real mother of the baby, he did not just listen to one
side rather he thought of a way to find out who really is saying the truth by using his
wisdom and thinking critically. We should be mindful with everything we do and decide.
