Agrarian reform is one of the most complicated laws we have in the Philippines. It is a never ending

debate between our farmers and landowners. Agrarian reform was defined as the rectification of the

whole system of agriculture. It is a Land Distribution Law that farmers should have since it’s their right

but as it was signed, farmers never had or even owned a single land.

We have two dimensions that are important to talk about and those are the (1) land ownership and

distribution and (2) agriculture and human rights of the famers. These two factors are the most affected

by the Agrarian Reform. Since land is an equivalent to power and leadership, landowners tend to abuse

this power. They will let the farmers borrow money from them as land will be the collateral. With these,

if ever farmers can’t pay enough or in time, the land should be given to those who are in position. This

reform is the most basic problem of our country. It literally complicates things between farmers and

landowners. They say that this reform will make the lives of our farmers better and increased their

productivity and income but why does our farmers are still treated like this? Government disregarded

the yearning of our farmers up until now.

The good side of the Agrarian Reform is that famers can put mark up to their products such as crops and

many more. But knowing that they are already putting mark ups in their products, we all know that this

is not enough for them to be better in life.

Our country failed to live up its promise to our fellow Filipinos and overuse the power they have. Our

reforms are not really to make a better life this just made our lives difficult to live especially our farmers.

If this continues, the situation of our farmers won’t change and it will not reduce poverty.
