health. Supposedly it boosts the immune system and decreases blood pressure. It’s an
opportunity to strengthen our faith. Our faith is something to be proud of, and not only is
it good for us, but we will feel good about yourself. Potentially, it will give us a sense of
purpose. If we attend, a closer bond may develop. Mass can be a time of relaxation for us.
A glorious hour of prayer and reflection can do wonders for our mind, body and spirit.
It’s a time to listen, to give thanks, to forgive and to worship. Ultimately, this will bring
us inner peace.

4. How does it affect the members of the community?

o The celebration of Mass, like life, has vertical and horizontal dimensions. This parallels
the great commandment, which instructs us to love God and then to love our neighbors as
ourselves. The way we celebrate Sunday will affect the way we live the remainder of the
week and is a mark of Christian identity from generation to generation.
