Modern Physics
SY. 2016-2017
I. Targets: At the end of the activity, at least 80% of the students should be able to:
A. Topic/Activity: MASER
B. Concepts:
2. Maser generally refers to a device which is used for creation and amplification
of an intense and coherent beam of high frequency radio waves. Laser is
same as the maser, but it specifically applies to infrared or optical
wavelengths only. Laser has evolved from maser. Laser and maser are based
on the concept of stimulated emission introduced by the Einstein. This
concept is described as a process in which an electron moves to a lower
energy due to an interaction with electromagnetic waves.
QUESTIONS:
D. Lesson Proper
D.1. Pre-Laboratory:
A. Arrange the jumbled words and make it a sentence. Paste the arrange
sentence on the cartolina and explain the sentence or give idea about it.
D.2. Activity Proper: Perform the activity for (3) five minutes by group.
D.4. Application/Valuing: The students will watch a short video about MASER
and they will give reflection about the video they
watch.
D.5. Generalization: Maser generally refers to a device which is used for creation
and amplification of an intense and coherent beam of
high frequency radio waves. Laser is same as the
maser, but it specifically applies to infrared or optical
wavelengths only. Laser has evolved from maser.
E. Evaluation: Multiple Choices.
Direction: Choose the correct answer and write the letter before the number.
1. What is the acronym of MASER?
a. Microwave Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
b. Microwave Amplification of Stimulation Emmision of Radiation
c. Molecule Amplification of Stimulated Emission of Radiation
d. Molecular Amplification by Stimulation Emission of Radiation
2. Who shared the 1964 Nobel Prize in physics for his work on masers and
lasers?
a. Albert Einstein
b. Arthur Schawlow
c. Arthur Townes
d. Charles Townes
