Microsoft Publisher

What is it?
Microsoft Publisher is a desktop publishing program. You can make
a variety of publications with Publisher, including: brochures,
business cards, invitations, newsletters, and coupons. “Desktop
Publishing” is a name that originated when computers began to be
used for publishing… a computer fits on a desktop, as opposed to
the large, heavy equipment that was once used for publishing:

Sans-Serif versus Serif Font
Faces
Sans-Serif font faces are plain and do not
have decorations. These may be easier to
read on a computer screen.
WEB
Serif font faces have decorations. These
may be used to draw attention to certain
areas of the Web page, like the business
name and slogan.

Masthead
The masthead is the top area of a document that usually contains
important identification information, like the business name or
newspaper name, slogan, date, edition number, etc. For a
business, you have a chance to establish a sense of brand in this
area – viewers should be able to get a strong idea of what the
business is about.

Branding & Logos
A logo is a great way to establish brand identity. Some logos are quite
memorable to consumers.

For our assignments we will not be constructing new, original logos. However,
one technique you can utilize is to put text in front of an image, like below:
