a) Enumerate at least three of the most recent songs you have listened. Where did they originate? Identify the nationality of the writer and/or artist for each music. Three of the most recent songs I listened to are 17, At My Worst, and I Can’t Stop Me. The songs 17 and At My Worst originate from the United States of America and are sung by David Bowden, an American singer and songwriter also known professionally as Pink Sweat$. Moreover, I Can’t Stop Me is a Kpop song that originates from South Korea sung by Korean girl group Twice composed of Korean and Japanese girls. b) What gadgets or devices do you usually use to listen to music? The device I usually use to listen to songs is my cellular phone as it is the most convenient means and the easiest access towards playing different kinds of music. c) Where were these gadgets or devices made? Where is the company based? The cellular phone I use is a 2018 Samsung Galaxy j6+ designed and engineered by the Samsung Group that is headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul, South Korea and manufactured in Vietnam. d) How did you access these music? Did you purchase them online or listen to them through YouTube, Spotify, and other music channels? I accessed these music on my phone through YouTube and Spotify as downloading them would be much too costly and far more too inconvenient.
2. Using a virtual representation, create your generalizations and discuss: what is
globalization? How would you define globalization? Globalization is a broad multifaceted topic whose definition depends on the perspective of the person defining it. It involves countries and their people, economy, goods, services, communication, connectivity, etc. It can be viewed as something positive, if seen as a form of unity, or negative, if perceived as disadvantageous to some, basing on the benefits a person derives from it. If I were to define it, based on the benefits I can gain on it, globalization is a positive phenomenon of constant and undying interpersonal unification amongst the global communities. It integrates people, companies, and governments worldwide. It is the increasing unity of global communities’ economies, people, connectivity and interactions, movements, and exchange of goods, services, capital, technologies, tools, and etc., and as well as the international development of economical, political, and social relationships amongst the aforementioned integrated aspects. 3. What metaphors are you going to use in order to improve your own definition of globalization? Enumerate at least three and explain one of them. In order to make it easier for people to define globalization, metaphors are used. I defined globalization as a multifaceted topic characterized by the constant and undying unity of global communities. The metaphors that I would use to further widen my definition of globalization are a galaxy, an Orpine, and ant groups. Firstly, because of the multifaceted nature of globalization, I have associated it with a galaxy. A galaxy is wide and vague, and hard to entirely understand as it is composed of various aspects such as planets, meteors, stars, supernovas, and the like. Globalization, like that of a galaxy, is composed of global communities, in the form of countries, people, and governments, and a variety of aspects such as social, economical, and political development making it a more complex topic that is harder for people to generate a solid definition. Second, globalization, for me, is like an Orpine. An Orpine is a purple- flowered Eurasian plant of the stonecrop family that is sometimes known as livelong or undying. I used this as a metaphor to globalization because of the undying and constant characteristic of unison and change I see globalization has. Lastly, ant groups, or ants, are known to be a unified species of insects that help one another when gathering food, building shelters, and protecting each other from any harm brought to them by the outside world. Similarly, in globalization, the countries, companies, and governments involved are also in unison towards their individual and holistic development in terms of their economical growth and exchanges, social relationships, international interactions and connectivity, and as well as are harmonious during the occurrence of global challenges such as global health issues like that of the COVID-19 pandemic.
