1.Write a paragraph of around 120 words on how Vietnamese tour companies,


tour guides, tour operators, restaurant owners or hoteliers cope with the
Covid-19 pandemic as well as ANOTHER problem faced by the country's
tourism and hospitality industries (5 marks)

The MICE industry was undermined by government efforts to contain and


combat the pandemic. Borders were closed, trips banned, social and business
events cancelled, and people were ordered to stay in their homes. By taking
these actions, governments around the world sought to strike a balance between
maintaining their economies and preventing dangerous levels of unemployment
and deprivation. In response to a new cluster of infections in the north of
Vietnam in January 2021, the following precautionary measures have been put
in place. Large gatherings and events, bars, karaoke parlours and clubs are
suspended in Hanoi. Street food stalls and cafes in Hanoi are temporarily
closed, and all restaurants must observe social distancing measures.Schools in
40 localities across Vietnam are suspending in-person classes as of February
17. In addition, interprovincial transportation with Hải Dương Province is
suspended for a period of 21 days. Quảng Ninh Province has suspended
interprovincial transportation and tourism operations, including cruises, hotels
and restaurants until further notice. All flights and operations at Van Don
International Airport are temporarily suspended.  Hải Dương Province is
observing full social distancing measures from February 16 until further notice.
Other tourism attractions in the country are currently open but must ensure
safety measures are in place for all visitors.  Foreigners and residents are
required to wear masks in public and may be fined for failure to comply. A
number of festivals and events in Vietnam have been cancelled or postponed in
alignment with the government’s directive to avoid public gatherings such as:
Huế Festival 2020 - Postponed to 2021, F1 Vietnam Grand Prix – Cancelled,
Techcombank Ha Noi, Marathon - March 26-28, 2021, Vietnam Trail
Marathon 2021 – Cancelled.

2.You just got back dissatisfied from a package tour to Thailand. Write a letter
of complaint (around 150 words) to the travel agency you bought the tour from
to voice your dissatisfaction regarding the flight, hotel room and staff, tour
guide, food and tour itinerary; as well as seek apology and compensation from
the agency. (5 marks)

Dear Ms Huong,
I am writing to complaint about the terrible service, a very unsatishfactory
experience I receive on a holiday arranged by your company. I had as a
member of your packaged tour (Sai Gon – Thailand 3 days 2 nights ) which
travelled to Thailand on May 21th, 2018.
My particular complaint concerns the travel arrangements, which was disatrous
about the inclusive tour service, hotel service and room service in The Yard
Hostel Bangkok in Thailand. As requested, I arrived to at the Bangkok ariport 1
hour before departure in order check in. However, we had told in most rude and
impolite in check – in desk at the airport and we were so difficult to explain
with the staff that we could not check in as the flight was overbooked. Then, I
arrived at the hotel on the frist night quite late in the evening. When the room
keys were handed out by our giude, I went immediately to the room assigned to
me and found that another woman on the tour was already in one of the beds;
she had been assigned to the same room. After that, I went back to the tour
giude immediately and told him that I had paid the extra fee for a single
occupancy room. He went and talked to the hotel staff, and return to tell me it
was too late to find a single room and get it ready for me . In addtion, the bed
saged, the pillow is stained and the shower curtain is torn. What is terrible, I
was so surprised to see that the tap is dripping.
I find such service totally unacceptable. I paid a lot of money for this holiday
and I think your company had to enhance your service. I would be grateful if
you could give me some explanations and offer some form of compensation.
