Chapter 3 – SELEX 2100 Capture-Effect Glideslope

3.1. Operational procedure

3.1.1. Switching ON

a) Turn ON both AC switches.

b) Turn ON both DC switches.

c) The system will perform its initialization, delay 20 seconds and then start transmitting.

3.1.2. Switching OFF


a) If the ILS is currently in a nonstandard mode of operation, the user will be prompted to
correct issues before continuing with the log off.
b) Turn off both DC switches.

Turn off both AC switches


3.2. Preventive maintenance

3.2.1. DAILY
3.2.1.1. Materials Needed
 NAV-AIDS Daily Maintenance Checklist.
 Toolbox
 Keys (Vehicle, Shelter, Road gates)
 Pen
 Hand-held Radios
 ILS-LOC Daily Checklist Form

.2.3.2. Coordination
a) Inform the CNSSO shift supervisor/shift members before leaving the station.
b) Call Air Traffic Control to cross runway.

.2.3.2. Safety precaution/activity


a) Check the Vehicle for Road Worthiness. (Fuel, Brakes, Lights, Oil, water, signal lights etc.)
b) Check the Radio battery if not low power, if its transmission and reception are ok.
c) Wear proper attire shoes and protective gloves.
d) Open the main door using the specified key.
e) Upon entering the equipment room, switch on the room lightings.
f) Check for abnormalities in the environment (such as smell, wet floor, debris, sounds,
temperature, etc.).
g) Inform of any abnormalities observed, if any.

e) Check transmitter 1&2 Synthesizer & PA Data (Refer to SELEX 2100 Capture-Effect
Glideslope Operation and Maintenance Manual 3.4.2.12.2 (Fig. 3-40))

.2.3.2. Post safety precaution/activity


a) Make sure all equipment switches/settings are back to their original position prior to PM
activities.
a) Check for abnormalities in the environment (such as smell, wet floor, debris, sounds,
temperature, etc.).

a) Advise supervisor/shift members on duty that the PM activity is already done.

a) Check and inventory tools and materials used in the activity.
b) Record your activity on PM logbook.

3.2.2.2. Equipment/Tools Needed


 Vacuum cleaner
 Blower

3.2.2.3. Coordination

a) Inform the CNSSO shift supervisor/shift members before leaving the station.

b) Call Air Traffic Control to cross runway.


3.2.2.4. Safety precaution/activity
a) Prepare the needed materials.
b) Check the Vehicle for Road Worthiness. (Fuel, Brakes, Lights, Oil, water, signal lights etc.)

c) Check the Radio battery if not low power, if its transmission and reception are ok.
d) Wear proper attire shoes and protective gloves.
e) Open the main door using the specified key.
f) Upon entering the equipment room, switch on the room lightings.
g) Check for abnormalities in the environment (such as smell, wet floor, debris, sounds,
temperature, etc.).
h) Inform of any abnormalities observed, if any.
i) Wear ESD wrist strap if available.

3.2.2.5. PM procedure

3.2.4. Transmitter Cabinet Inspection

3.2.4.6.2.7. Post coordination activity


a) Advise supervisor/shift members on duty that the PM activity is already done.

3.2.4.7.2.7.
Culmination
a) Check and inventory tools and materials used in the activity.
b) Record your activity on PM logbook.
c) Record your activity on PM ERC.
d) Before leaving, check again for abnormalities in the environment (such as smell, wet
floor, debris, sounds, temperature, etc.).
e) Switch off lighting.
f) Make sure that the station main door is locked.
g) Upon returning back to base, return all materials and tools used to their proper storage.
h) Let the shift supervisor sign the PM form if needed.

3.2.3. MONTHLY

1.1.1.6. Perform Pre-Monitors Flight Inspection:
a) Measure Modulations (with PIR and RF sniffer in Appropriate wattmeter body, measure
and record total modulation (SDM) and Mod Balance for course and clearance
transmitters)
b) Check System RF Phasing (Refer to SELEX 2100 Capture-Effect Glideslope Operation and
Maintenance Manual 9.8.6)
1.1.1.7. Check Shelter/Equipment Grounding
1.1.1.8. Battery Backup Unit Inspection (Refer to SELEX 2100 Capture-Effect Glideslope
Operation and Maintenance Manual 6.2.10)
1.1.1.9. Post safety precaution/activity
1.1.1.9.1. Make sure all equipment switches/settings are back to their original
position prior to PM activities.
