1 Introduction
Here will be described the full plan for the MBA – Leadership and Management for the author
Hélder Alves. He is 33 years old aircraft engineer, working as freelance mostly around
Europe/UK. He is also a passionate with aviation sector and currently, is an instructor on his
field and also in a halfway process to obtain the EASA PPL (Pilot Private License). After 15 years
on the field, on different sectors, on different countries, with thousands of hours of studies,
trainings, and other important certifications by competent authorities; it is now time to boost
his career and achieve other levels on the aviation industry or other’s that may he fits well.

2 Study Plan
1.1 Proposed Plan
After his brief introduction, it will be described what is expected to be the study plan for the
coming year 2021.

The first module The Essence of Leadership will be from January 2021 (04 Jan 2021 - 28 Mar
2021). On cited module and next ones, will be done by reading books, journals and articles
recommended by his university; such (Yukl, 2009), (Connor & Pokora, ) as others like (Ebrahim,
2012) to support his personal research and online investigation on innumerous websites.

Is expected that all research, critical analysis, and thinking will be correlated and effective as
possible with the author work environment sector. The relation will be advantageous to show
more evidences and enhance his own assignments.

Moreover, the next modules will be realized on the sequence suggested by the University on a
full-time basis, as possible:

Successful Strategic Thinking - November 2021 (15 Nov 2021 - 06 Feb 2022)
Building and Leading High Performing Teams - May 2021 (17 May 2021 - 08 Aug 2021)
Coaching and Mentoring Skills for Success - August 2021 (16 Aug 2021 - 07 Nov 2021)

As soon the first or second module ends, the idea of dissertation will be discussed with the
tutor assigned to him, to see the best path to follow to and effective success.
Residence will also be booked, but due the COVID-19 that will be done online or after other
indication gave by the University at that moment.

In summary the MBA will be projected to be done till one year, one year and half.

2.1 Unexpected events

Besides such schedule MBA plan, some unforeseen events may occur and he should be aware
of that. Such progress can be interrupted or delayed and with that, the deadlines can not be
reached as expected.

Above will be described some reasons for those possible unfulfilled goals:

- Current professional situation: the freelancers on aviation market are very vulnerable
to not have a steady contract. The unpredicted market makes a constant move
between contracts/countries, and that takes time to adjust. Specially nowadays due
corona pandemic.
- To be a working father has his own duties. Working mainly abroad, requires travels to
home (Portugal) as possible, and time is lost on such travels. He has 2 babies with 19
months.
- Other similar reasons may be: Familiar reasons due sickness or other major reasons
(travel is needed); National Duties (Passport emission, Law, etc.)
- Other minors’ reasons but takes up time, such as trainings/formations needed on his
work sector. Normally abroad and is also required many hours of study.

3 Conclusion
Besides all the mentioned factors above, this Pandemic can be more unpredictable than
expected, for the good and for the bad. As a freelance international worker, he has a direct link
with this critical pandemic situation. This situation makes totally unpredictable for the next
contract moves on upcoming months. However, it will be given all efforts and interest for the
conclusion on all modules and MBA.
