Procedures Get Ready to Learn
 TTW ask the students whether they have ever watched the
television sitcom "Seinfeld". We will then discuss the three main
characters and how each fit into one of the basic categories of
body types. Jerry is a mesomorph, Kramer is an endomorph,
and George is an ectomorph. The characteristics can then be
listed for each, and the students can be made aware that most
of these characteristics are genetic.
Instruction
 TTW conduct an interval warm-up in order to prepare the
students for physical activity.
 TSW will participate in a warm-up that consists of walking (30
seconds), pushups (30 seconds), walking (30 seconds), high
knees (30 seconds), jumping jacks (30 seconds). This will be
repeated 3 times.
Guided Practice
 TSW participate in a game of ultimate frisbee. Designed to
promote a healthy lifestyle and get students accustomed to the
relationship between body fat % and activity levels, this game
will have a high aerobic content.
 TTW call on each student individually to calculate their body fat
percentage using a Body Fat % scale.
Guided Independent Practice
 TSW will be on one of the two teams during the game of
ultimate frisbee. In ultimate frisbee, two teams try to
successfully pass the frisbee to their teammates over the goal
line. Passes that are dropped result in the opponent gaining
control of the spot. In order for the frisbee to be thrown, the
person will have five seconds to do so while remaining
motionlessness.
Closure
 TTW review the main points of lesson and stress the
importance that high activity levels are a strong indicator of a
healthy body fat percentage.

is nothing further for the students to do.
Accommodation/Modifications (IEP, ELL)
 TTW will respect the students who feel uncomfortable with their
body fat being measured and allow them to continue playing
ultimate frisbee.
Remediation/Reteach/Intervention (For those who DO NOT
“get it”; then what?
 TTW be sensitive to students who have health issues and let
them do something other than playing ultimate frisbee.
