Procedures Get Ready to Learn
 TTW start off by review yesterday’s lesson about the 5 fitness
components.
 TTW explain that these components are often used to for
testing a person’s fitness level so that’s what we will be doing
today.
 TTW present a PowerPoint to show the students the type of
fitness tests they will be doing.
 TTW demonstrate each test before moving to the next slide.
 TSW sit quietly and listen to presentation. They are not required
to take notes.
Instruction
 TTW will distribute worksheets for recording the students
results.
 TTW split the class in 2 groups in which each student will have
1 partner.
 TTW label students 1 or 2. 1s perform while 2s record result,
then roles are changed.
 TTW will conduct each test and students will wait for the
teacher to say “go”.
Guided Practice
 TTW conduct a warmup before testing begins.
 TSW jog a couple of laps to get their bodies warm. Then they
will do some dynamic stretching consisting of walking lunges,
high knees, butt kicks, windmills, and hamstring stretches.
Guided Independent Practice
 TSW complete a 12-minute run (COOPER’S 12 MINUTE RUN
TEST).
 TSW perform as many press-ups as possible in 1 minute (1
MINUTE PRESS-UP TEST).
 TSW perform as many sit-ups as possible in 1 minute (1
MINUTE SIT-UP TEST).
 TSW continuously run the 20-meter distance keeping to the
bleeps of the multi-stage fitness test CD. The bleeps will get
progressively quicker, and pupils must keep running until they
cannot keep up with the bleep anymore (MULTI-STAGE
FITNESS TEST).
 TSW for 1 minute, step onto and off a bench continuously
performing as many repetitions as possible (HARVARD STEP
TEST).
 TSW squeeze the hand grip dynamometer as tightly as they
can using their hand. This is done 3 times, with 3 results being
taken (SIT & REACH FLEXIBILITY TEST).
 TSW put their hands on their hips, put one foot on the knee of
the other and tiptoe on the other foot. Repeat the test on the
opposite foot (STANDING STORK TEST).
 TSW perform a standing jump and touch the tape measure on
the highest point of the jump (SERGEANT JUMP TEST).
 TSW perform a sprint over a distance of 30 meters (30 METER
SPRINT TEST).
 TTW be responsible for starting and ending each test.
Closure
 TTW choose one student to lead the class in a cool down
activity.
 TSW complete their worksheet by filling in the “fitness
component” column.
 TTW end the class with a discussion about how students
can improve their scores.
 TSW share different exercises and activities that could
improve their fitness levels in the future.
