Grading Rubric for Job Description Assignment


Each Job Description is graded on a 100-point scale across the following four domains: (1) Comprehensive
Content – CC (40 points), (2) Length – L (20 points), (3) References – R (20 points), (4) Format – F (20 points).
**Please note, that additional points will be deducted or a failing grade assigned for major infractions such as not
including citations for the information used in your paper (i.e., not indicating within your writing which reference any
piece of information came from, whether quoted or paraphrased), not indicating direct quoting through use of an APA
quotation format, putting an in-text citation and/or reference that does not actually match with the information in
your paper, or other academic integrity-related concerns.

1- COMPREHENSIVE CONTENT (CC) – 40 total points possible

– Is the required information as defined by the revised syllabus (i.e., 1 - 7) presented for the profession?

40 pts – Job Description content is comprehensive

- All seven criteria are fully addressed in the job description with at least two sentences per criteria.

30 pts – Job Description content is mostly comprehensive.

- Five of the seven criteria are addressed in the job description with at least two sentences per criteria.

20 pts – Job Description content is partially comprehensive.

- Three of the seven criteria are addressed in the job description with at least two sentences per criteria.

10 pts – Job Description content is incomplete.

- Two of the seven criteria are addressed in the job description with at least two sentences per criteria.

- Or, there are less than two sentences per criteria that are addressed.

2- LENGTH (L) – 20 total points possible

– Is the job description at least 2-3 pages in length and double-spaced?

20 pts – Job Description length is met.

- The job description is at least 2 pages in length with correct spacing, font and margins.

15 pts – Job Description length is mostly met.

- The job description is at least 1.5 pages in length; or

- Spacing, font, and/or margins are somewhat incorrect

10 pts – Job Description length is partially met.


- The job description is at least 1 page in length; or

- Spacing, font, and/or margins are moderately incorrect

05 pts – Job Description length is incomplete.

- The job description is less than 1 page in length; or

- Spacing, font, and/or margins are substantially incorrect

3- REFERENCES (R) – 20 total points possible

– Does the job description include a reference page in APA style with a minimum of four references?

20 pts – Job Description Reference Page requirement is met.

- Reference Page includes at least 4 references

- All references are typed in APA Format

15 pts – Job Description Reference Page requirement is mostly met.

- Reference Page includes at least 3 references

- Most references are typed in APA Format

10 pts – Job Description Reference Page requirement is partially met

- Reference Page includes at least 2 references

- Few references are typed in APA Format

05 pts – Job Description Reference Page requirement is incomplete

- Reference Page includes at least 1 reference

- No references are typed in APA Format

4- FORMAT (F) – 20 total points possible

– Is the job description typed in narrative format following the required order described in the revised syllabus? Does
the writing demonstrate collegiate-level writing expectations? Does the writing display a quality use of basic grammar,
spelling, and syntax?

20 pts – Job Description is typed in narrative format and:

- Demonstrates use of language that is clear, concise, and appropriate.

- Contains very few, if any, errors in spelling, grammar, and syntax.

- Uses a preponderance of original language and only directly quote when necessary and/or appropriate.
15 pts – Job Description is typed in narrative format and:

- Demonstrates use of language that is clear (may ramble or repeat slightly).

- Contains a few errors in spelling, grammar, and syntax.

- Uses original language for the most part and directly quotes when necessary and/or appropriate.

10 pts – Job Description is typed in partially narrative format and:

- Demonstrates use of language that is somewhat unclear, inappropriate, or unnecessarily lengthy.

- Contains more than occasional errors in spelling, grammar, and syntax.

- Use of original language is below average, and/or overuse of direct quotes.

05 pts – – Job Description is typed in minimal narrative format and:

- Demonstrates use of language that is unclear or inappropriate.

- Contains many errors in spelling, grammar, and syntax.

- Directly quotes from original source material rather than use original language.
