WOODEN FLOORING
“Floored” By Wood!
Wooden flooring is any kind of product that is made of
wood (timber) to use for flooring, either structural and
aesthetic. Wood has become a very common choice to
manufacture flooring material which comes in a variety
of styles, cuts, colors, sizes and species. Bamboo
flooring is often considered as the wooden flooring
although it is made of grass rather than timber.
TYPES

 Laminated wooden flooring

 Engineered wooden flooring
 Solid wooden flooring
LAMINATE WODDEN FLOORING
Laminated wooden flooring is a kind of wooden
flooring manufactured by fusing multi-layer synthetic
flooring products together with a lamination process.
Laminate flooring transcribes wood, stone or tile with
a photographic applique layer under a clear
protective layer. The inner layer basically composed
of melamine resin and fiber board materials.
Laminated flooring has become very popular mainly
because it is strong, durable, it can resist burns,
scratches and chipping and it is easy to install and
maintain than the other traditional flooring materials.
ENGINEERED WODDEN FLOORING
Engineered wood flooring is a kind of flooring
material made of two or more layers of wood in the
form of a plank. The top layer is the wood that is
visible and the flooring is installed and is adhered to
the core. It has become a very common type of
wooden flooring around the globe. Each floor board
consist of three or four layers of wood, fixed together
with adhesive or other methods of fixation at the right
angle to create a plank around 40mm thick. It is more
attractive than laminated floor and cheaper than solid
planks. It is also more stable.
SOLID WODDEN FLOORING
Solid wooden flooring is a kind of wooden flooring
made of planks milled from a single piece of timber
typically 18mm to 20mm thick and air dried before
sawing. It can be cut according to the desired look
size in three ways: flat-sawn, quarter-swan, and rift-
swan. Solid woods are mostly manufactured with a
tongue-and-groove for installation. Solid engineered
flooring has gained popularity across the world. Solid
wood floors have a thicker wear surface and it can be
sanded and finished more times than an engineered
wood floor or laminated wood floor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

 Tongue and groove

 Click or wood lock systems
 Floor connection systems
 Glue down method
 Floating installation
TONGUE AND GROOVE

One side and one end of the plank have a groove the other
side and end have a tongue. The tongue and groove fit roughly
together thus joining or aligning the planks and are not visible.
Tongue and groove flooring can be installed by glue down,
floating or nail down.
CLICK OR WOOD LOCK SYSTEMS
There are a number of patented click system that now exist
this click systems are either unilin or fiboloc. A click floor is
similar to tongue and groove but instead or fitting directly
into the groove, the board must be angled or tapped into
the curved or barbed tongue fit into the modified groove.
No adhesive is used when install a click floor, making
board replacement easier. This system not only exist for
engineered wood floors.
FLOOR CONNECTION SYSTEMS
There are a wide range of connection systems as most of
them are mill-specific manufacturing techniques. The
general principal is to how grooves all for sides of the plank
with a separate, unconnected, piece that is inserted into
the grooves of two planks to join them. The piece used for
the connection can be made from wood rubber or plastic.
GLUE DOWN SYSTEMS
Wooden flooring can be installed utilizing the glue down method.
This is an especially popular method for solid parquet flooring
installation on concentrate sub floors. Additionally, engineered
wood flooring may use the glue down method as well. A layer of
mastic is placed ion to the subfloor using a trowel similar to those
used in laying ceramic tile. The wood pieces are laid on top of
them. Glue and hammered into place using a rubber mallet.
FLOATING INSTALLATION
A floating installation is where the flooring is laid down in glue
less manner on top of a layer of underlay. The individual planks
are locked together using a wood lock system, and they are not
glued nailed down to the sub floor. By doing this floor is floating
above the underlay, and can be laid on top of existing tile or
marble, without the risk of damaging the subfloor.
