DETERMINATION OF THE TOP OF DESCENT (TOD) → set Landing Gear DOWN
→ start to slow down to ~ 120 KIAS
Check STAR and APPROACH altitude contraints and if possible → set Flaps 3 (60%) @ ~ 120 KIAS
compare to actual charts. Estimate your TOD and compare it to actual
TOD in FMS. Descent should start latest at approx. (Altitude/1.000)*3
NM +10 NM before the Destination. If ATC has not given you @ ~ 5 NM
clearance 1-2 Minutes after your TOD, then start to descent → set Flaps FULL (100%)
anyways.Due to a lot of wrong STAR/APPROACH altitude constraints → slow down to ~ 100 KIAS
in MS FS database, you are advised to constantly check your altitude
during descent and approach, even if you were given clearance to @ ~ 3 NM
descent at the TOD. For a standard 3° glidepath approach, make sure → check Landing Gear DOWN
you are not significantly higher at a given point than the elevation of → check Flaps FULL
the destination plus a 1.000 ft per 3 NM to go. Example: If you have
→ Autopilot OFF (latest @ 200 ft AGL)
21 NM to go, destination is at 1.000 ft, you should be around at
21/3*1.000+1.000 ft = 8.000 ft altitude. Sinkrate for 3° Glidepath → Yaw Damper.......OFF
equals 5 * Ground Speed! → final speed ~ 85 - 95 KIAS (dep. on weight)

Checkt die STAR und APPROACH Höhenbeschränkungen und @ ~ 30 ft AGL/RH


vergleicht sie wenn möglich mit echten Karten. Überschlagt Euren → set Thrust Levers to IDLE
TOD und vergleicht ihn mit dem TOD im FMS. Der Sinklfug sollte → slowly flare
spätestens ca. bei (Höhe/1.000)*3 NM + 10 NM vor dem Ziel → touchdown with main wheels first
beginnen. Wenn Euch die ATC nicht 1-2 Minuten nach dem TOD die
→ use Reverse Thrust if required
Freigabe zum Sinken erteilt hat, leitet den Sinkflug trotzdem ein. Auf
Grund einer Vielzahl von falsch hinterlegten Höhenbeschränkungen in
der Datenbak des MS FS, solltet Ihr regelmäßig eure Höhe
überprüfen, auch wenn Ihr rechtzeitig die Sinkflugfreigabe erhalten
hattet. Für einen Standard 3° Sinkpfad solltet Ihr sicherstellen, dass
Ihr zu keinem Punkt höher als die Zielhöhe plus 1.000 ft pro 3 NM
verbleibender Flug. Beispiel: Müsst ihr noch 21 NM fliegen und das
Ziel liegt auf 1.000 ft Höhe, solltet Ihr bei ca. 21/3*1000 ft + 1.000 ft =

@ ~ Base Leg or 3-2 NM to go


→ start descending
→ sinkrate ~ 500 – 1.000 fpm
→ set Flaps FULL (100%)
→ final speed ~ 85 - 95 KIAS (dep. on weight)

@ ~ 30 ft AGL/RH
→ set Thrust Levers to IDLE
→ slowly flare
→ touchdown with main wheels first
→ use Reverse Thrust if required

GO AROUND
→ push TO/GA Button
→ set Thrust Levers FULL FORWARD
→ initially Pitch ~ 8°
→ retract FLAPS to 1 (20%)
