BEFORE TAKEOFF / HOLDING POINT CRUISE


Landing Lights...........................................................ON Check and monitor the flightplan. Check STAR and
Strobe Lights.............................................................ON APPROACH altitude contraints and compare to actual charts.
Beacon, Logo & Taxi Lights............................check ON Estimate your TOD based on your Cruise FL and compare to
Fuel XFLOW Auto Override...........................set Manual actual TOD. Descend should begin aprroximately at a
distance of 10 NM plus 3 NM per 1.000 ft above destinations
Transponder....................................................SET & ON runway elevation. If ATC is not giving you clearance to
TCAS.................................................................AS REQ descent shortly (3-5 Minutes) after your TOD, then the STAR
Anti-Ice...............................................................AS REQ or APPROACH likely is broken. Start to descent then
Autopilot(HDG/ALT)........................................check SET anyways.

Again, due to a lot of wrong STAR altitudes in MS FS
ATC Clearance..................................................AS REQ database, you are advised to constantly check your altitude
during descent and approach even if you were given
clearance to descent at the TOD. For a standard 3° glidepath
TAKEOFF approach, make sure you are not significantly higher at a
→ line up and brake given point than the elevation of the destination plus a 1.000 ft
per 3 NM reamaing distance. Example: If you have 21 NM to
→ set THROTTLE for 60% N1 go, destination is at sea level and you are at an altitude of
→ relase BRAKES 12.000 ft, than you are way too high. you should be around
→ set THROTTLE to TOGA Notch 7.000 ft.

→ keep pitch ~10° - 20° (follow FD) set APPROACH & STAR
→ retract LANDING GEAR @ poisitve rate

→ activate NAV Mode → set THROTTLE to maintain desired speed
→ follow FD or activate AP there is NO Autothrust
→ accelerate to 200 KIAS (set 200 in SPEED Mode) Descent Speed...........................MACH 0.74 / 290 KIAS
→ retract FLAPS to 1° @ 180 KIAS
