TOPIC: Metamorphism
MELCS: a. Discuss how the three types of rocks are formed;
b. Classify igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks based on their texture,
mineral content and importance; and
c. Give common examples of each type of rock.

Activity 5
ROCK METAMORPHISM
Procedure:
1. Using sharp pair of scissors, cut all the circles (1st-4th) attached on next page.
2. On 2nd circle, briefly describe how each type of rock is formed.
3. On 3rd circle, give at least 3 common examples of each type of rock.
4. On the 4th circle, classify each type of rock based on their texture, mineral content, and importance.
NOTE: You need to put a short description for each classification.
5. Glue all the circles together by placing the glue on the small circle that say “Glue Here”. The biggest circle will
be glued on the bottom and the smallest circle will be glued on the top.
Note:
a. Make sure to line up your circles before gluing. For example, you will want to glue all the circles with
the “Glue Here” circle with the text upright (not turned to the side).
b. To add beauty to your output, color each circle using the color-coding scheme below:
1st circle: yellow
2nd circle: blue
3rd circle: green
4th circle: red
