FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSION (July 6, 2020): Highlighted in the discussion is that men and women should know the differentiation of sex and gender. It is emphasized
that gender are culturally formed (e.g. boys are not allowed to play with dolls while girls are not allowed to play with toy guns.) These are also learned behavior such as
women should be demure and conservative. The facilitator emphasized that institutional Sexism also needs to be prevented. The participants shared their thoughts
regarding the topics.

EGES FACULTY together for GENDER EQUALITY Amid Pandemic

This crisis offers a platform to raise awareness of the underlying


issues re: Gender Equality, as well as shift our day-to-day attitudes, habits,
and ways of working to benefit us all-regardless of our gender identities.

For the educators to appreciate GAD and eventually become its


advocate, they first have to heighten their awareness of gender concerns
and be willing to respond to gender issues.
