COPING WITH CHANGES

Disruptive behaviors of the students have been the reason why Principal Jimenez of
League Town High School proposed to have this year’s Awarding Ceremony to nighttime
instead of daytime, but it resulted some teachers to grouse. (Stating the problem)
However, we believe that nighttime will be the perfect timing to have the ceremonious
event. (Your stand/point)
After a thorough analysis with the situation, we have come up with these rationales why
it should be changed into nighttime. In wit: First, it will create less conflict between students.
Knowing that this is an Awarding Ceremony, therefore there will only few students who will
going to attend (only the ones who are included in the honor roll) and parents can look after their
children—less students, less conflict. Second, most of the parents have their work during daily
hours, therefore this proposal will be a great advantage to them. Stakeholders like parents should
be included in the academical recognition like this. Indeed, their situation is something that we
need to take into consideration. Lastly, this is the aftermath of the combined first and second
reasons—invaluable moment. Parents can now reap what they sewed. Seeing their children
receiving their award is something that represents their hard work and determination all
throughout the year. (Elaboration, explanation. Reasoning out, better if done in “good
transitions”)
On the other side of the coin, educators from the academe defied on the proposal given.
“Extra pay for extra hours”, as they voiced out their notion on the changes. They actually have
their point, “extra efforts should require extra recognition”. Working beyond their time, catering
additional tasks, going extra miles, are something that every one of us should apprehend and
appreciate. (Stating the other side)
Change is inevitable as it is. It exists where it needed. In the case of changing the
Awarding Ceremony from daytime into nighttime will be beneficial not only for the students, nor
only for the parents and teachers, but for the advantage of all the individuals included. Let us
work hand in hand, be ready with change and always aim for progression. (Conclusion, final
words. Make it as if you are giving advice.)
