 The Cask of Amontillado has been acclaimed as the perfect narrative, and thus a good model for
narrative writing. Every detail contributes to plot development.
 A narrative is simply a story. It tells about an event or a series of connected events. In a
narrative, the writer tell vividly what happened. A story, whether true or imagined, is not only the
kind of writing that is most fun to read; it is also the kind that is most fun to write.
 A personal narrative is a story in which the writer is one of the characters, often the main
character.
 The most effective writers are those who can make their writings appeal to the reader. The
following points will help you to become an effective writer.
1. Write about an event that will seem real to your readers.
2. Tell how you felt during the experience.
3. Make the sequence of events orderly.
4. Limit your narrative to one event.
5. Use vivid and forceful language. Avoid using hackneyed expressions.
 A diary or journal is a daily record of personal experiences or observations.
 It is one of the simplest forms of narration. Some young people consider the journal or diary as
their best friend because it is “whom” they pour out their hidden emotions and reveal their
deepest secrets.

 Diorama is a scene in miniature reproduced in three dimensions by placing figures before a

painted or photographed background.
 A successful diorama of a scene in a story,
- depicts the characters and setting reasonably.
- uses small figures of characters and other items
- shows painted or photographed background
- demonstrates creativity and artistry
- exhibits fine craftsmanship
