Objectives:
At the end of the discussion, the students are
expected to;
a. Learn the definition of the said topic;
b. Know how to make an outline of a story in
preparation for storytelling;
c. Absorb the importance of storytelling.

STORYTELLING
Storytelling is the social and cultural activity of
sharing stories, sometimes with improvisation, theatrics
or embellishment. Every culture has its own stories or
narratives, which are shared as a means of entertainment,
education, cultural preservation or instilling moral values.

Story was a simple account of the events that
took place during the day. It was a form of sharing
experiences, real or imaginary.

Ex. Pictures, videos or any reading materials as an


output and to give a support in your story.

Ross gives some teaching suggestions for storytelling:

*Outline the major actions in the story, identifying where


one ends and the other starts.

*Prepare and introduction and conclusion before and


actual telling.

*Practice telling the entire story-complete with intonation,


colorful phrases, gestures and sequence-in a smooth and
natural fashion. Time your telling of the story.

1. Storytelling introduces children to the world of
written language. They hear new words and varied
language structures from which they can model
their own language.

EPISODIC MAPPING
 It is a teaching developed by Davis and McPherson
in 1989.
-It teaches knowledge of text structure which helps
students to gain the ability to identify and follow
major structures within the story such as;
• Setting
• Plot
• Theme
• Problem/goal solution
