Take-Home Assignment Week 1 : Travis Bradberry Ted Talk What did students think and feel about what they heard and saw in the video? Based on the videos that I have watched I think that emotional intelligence is very important for our daily life, because it is related to the ability to understand emotions and respond to them effectively which is very useful for daily life and also for relating to other people. Because based on a story that tells of a man named Phineas Gage he is someone who is polite, calm, cold under pressure, and great with people. However, he had an accident where his head was hit by a stick which caused him to lose an area of the brain called the orbital frontal cortex which made him lose how to deal with his emotions. And I'm amazed at how our mental health works to regulate how our lives can be better and more purposeful. What are emotions? Emotions in my opinion are a collection of feelings such as anger, joy, sadness, disappointment that exist in a person which is also one of the big aspects of human attitude. What did Travis Bradberry mean by having 2 minds? That is Personal Competence and Social Competence. The Personal Competence is something related to himself like how he takes care of his self-awareness and manages himself so as not to become a toxic person. And the Social Competence is one's ability to work together and build connections with many people related to social awareness and relationship management. Because these two things are one of the important aspects for a person to live his life in order to remain a good person and not toxic, because if we have the awareness to behave well towards ourselves and others, everything will be easier. What are the 3 key take-away message that Travis Bradberry wanted impart on the importane? The three main messages I can take are that first people who have high self-awareness and are able to understand what they do well will find it easier to live life, secondly our intelligence in regulating and processing emotions is very important and is also needed to regulate how our relationships with other people, and the last thing I can catch is how to prevent our bodies from producing too much toxic protein, namely by keeping your stress under control, then clean up your sleepy hygiene, and finally is get your caffeine intake under control.
