Queries:
FFCCI would like to ask for a clarification with regards to the installation details of Type 2 Sub –
Surface Settlement Markers.
i. According the instruction from AECOM, the 1 meter x 1 meter x 9 mm steel plate (Type 2
Sub – Surface Settlement Marker) will be installed at 1 meter below the formation level. As
shown on the shopdrawing number SD- 003 notes section with regards to installation
procedure, it was discussed on item number 7 that protective steel pipe and internal pipe
during placement of surcharge should be extended to maintain internal pipe above protective
pipe and protective pipe above surcharge. But, based on the drawing, the elevation of the
pipes are follows: (1) for internal pipe it is 250 mm and protective steel pipe of 150 mm above
formation level with no extension detail. There is no detail on the connection of extension of
pipes and the length of pipe required for the surcharge.
ii. On the same shopdrawing the barrier for the settlement marker is shown on 2D. However, for
instrument’s barrier shown on SD-004, the plan is shown (rectangular, 2 m x 2m) and it has
foundation. Through this, we would like to clarify if the barrier to be used on settlement
marker is U-type and it will be dig to the sand only as seen on the drawing with a required
depth towards the formation level.
