TWO-MONTH CERTIFICATE GOURSE IN GERIATRIC CARE

FOR BEDSIDE ASSISTANCE/CARE TAKER AT KOCHI AND

KUNNAMKULAM

Aoolications are invited from interested candidates for Two-lv]onth certificate

Course in Geriatric Care for Bedside Assistance/Care Taker at Kochi and

Kunnamkulam being organized by National Institute of Social Defence (NISD)' an

Autonomous Body under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of
India, during January -March 2015. The course is being conducted in collaboration
with Alzheimeas and Related Disorders Society of India, a national voluntary
organization for the care, support, training and research of dementia since 1992.
ARDSI is the only center conducting NISD courses in Kerala. The course aims to
develop a cadre of skilled caregivers who would understand the role of geriatric care
and be able to provide comprehensive care to increasing number of aged and infirm at
homes as well as part of a health care team in old age homes, Nursing Homes,
Hospitals, NGOs, Schools, lvledical Institutes etc.

Candidates in the age group of 1845 and having qualification of 7th to 1oth standard
can apply. Preference will be given to people working as Old Age Care Givers in

homes, hospitals or institutions. Medium of instruction will be Malayalam. Total

duration of the course will be total 200 hours. There is no any course fee for this
program. There are 40 seats for each Centre. The course is purely non-residential
and the selected candidates will have to make their own arrangements for board &
lodging if its required. The students, who successfully complete the course will be
given stipend and certificates issued by govt. of India. The Course will include class
room and practical sessions, health survey of aged people to understand their basic
needs and required care, hospital and placement in geriatric institutions/hospitals. The
Tea and refreshment will be provided.
