1. INSITU METALLOGRAPHY.
1.1 PURPOSE OF THE EXIMINATION

According to PT. Humolco LNG Indonesia, jakarta Plant to conduct In-situ


metallographic examinations " Superheated" in the context of Plant Life Assessment
which was carried out in july 2021. The examination aims to determine the condition
of the microstructure using Replication Technique (In-situ metallography) .

TECHNICAL DATA

2. Operating Pressure : 925 psig
3. Operating Temperature : 955° F

5. CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION


5.1 CONCLUSIONS

5.1.1 Insitu Metallography.


From the results of metallographic tests that have been carried out and based on standard
references, the condition of the superheated line tube transfer line is still good, but there is a
decrease in the hardness value on point 5 that occurs due to spheroidized.

Spheroidizing is performed by annealing steels with more than 0.8% carbon. The
metal is heated to a temperature of about 1200°F (650°C) and maintained at this
temperature for apredetermined amount of time to convert its microstructure. This
allows for a cementite steel structure to change from a lamella formation to an alpha
ferrite matrix.

The alpha ferrite matrix is made up of particles of spheroidal cementite formations.

Spherodizing is typically done on parts that have been work hardened for improved
ductility, toughness, strength and reduced hardness.
