Course Objectives:
The course is oriented to familiarize the students with basic concepts of Production and Operations Management used in taking decisions in operating and
controlling the manufacturing and service industries.

Prerequisites:
The student should have prerequisite knowledge of foundation of management, business mathematics, and basic statistics.

Course Learning Outcomes:


On completion of the course the student will be able to: 
1. Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental concepts of production and operation management.
2. Apply the demand forecasting techniques for production planning.
3. Examine different methods of facility location and classify various facility layouts.
4. Illustrate various planning, scheduling, and controlling techniques.
5. Discuss basic concepts of inventory, supply chain, and logistics management.
6. Describe basic concepts of quality and employ different quality tools.

Pedagogy for Course Delivery:


The course will be a combination of theoretical and case-based styles. Classroom interaction will definitely have to be an integral part of the learning
experience. Case studies will be discussed and analyzed in class. Industry experts will come and discuss their experiences with students.
